Converse ES All Stars: Growing Together, Achieving More!
Week of January 12, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Converse ES All-Star Community,
This has been a challenging week across our district, and I want to take a moment to speak directly to our Converse ES community. As many of you may have seen on the news or social media, the district has announced that Superintendent Dr. Milton “Rob” Fields, III has been placed on paid administrative leave. Here is the district’s official statement:
The District’s Superintendent, Dr. Milton ‘Rob’ Fields, III, has been placed on administrative leave with pay in accordance with the Board’s motion at today’s meeting. Further, Dr. Lacey Gosch will serve as Acting Superintendent until further notice. Since this involves confidential personnel matters, we will not be commenting any further. The District remains focused on the core functions of serving students, supporting staff, and maintaining a stable learning environment for the community.
Times like these can understandably feel uncertain, but I want to reassure you that our mission remains unchanged. No matter who is at the helm, our commitment—to growing students, supporting families, and fostering a stable learning environment—remains strong. At Converse ES, we continue to stand side by side, focused on what truly matters: our All Stars.
In addition to district news, our school community experienced a heartbreaking moment this week. One of the construction team members working on our campus tragically lost his life in an accident. We ask that you continue to keep the family of Baltazar Olvera and the entire construction crew in your prayers. The team will be returning to the work site on Monday, and we know that returning after such a loss will be incredibly difficult for them.
I also want to thank you, sincerely, for your cooperation during the Secure and Hold protocols that day. Your patience, flexibility, and trust helped us maintain safety and calm for our students. I am truly grateful for this amazing community and the way we come together in difficult moments.
As always, please reach out if you need anything.
We are Converse ES All Stars—Growing Together, Achieving More!
Sincerely,
Miriam Huerta
Converse ES Principal

Restorative Corner
Honor Dr. King with Restorative Practices
You can practice the spirit of Dr. King’s work and Restorative Circles at home with these simple prompts:
"What is one way you used your voice to help someone today?"
"If you had a disagreement with a friend, what could you do to 'make it right' instead of just staying angry?"
"What does 'community' mean to you?"
We are proud to partner with you in raising the next generation of peacemakers and leaders. Thank you for supporting our efforts to build a school culture where everyone belongs.
Let's keep the spirit of Dr. King alive with intentionally building community!

Character Trait Of The Month
Throughout the year, staff will be recognizing students who demonstrate different character traits each month. At the end of each month, teachers will select one student from their class who has best exemplified that month's trait to be celebrated and awarded a certificate in recognition of their character.
January's Character Trait: Integrity
Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It includes being honest, taking responsibility for actions, keeping promises, and treating others fairly.
An Activity Parents Can Do at Home to Promote Integrity
"Stand by Your Word" Challenge
Integrity is often defined as keeping promises, even when you no longer feel like it.
The Activity: At the start of the weekend, have everyone make one small "Commitment" to the family (e.g., "I will clear the table after dinner").
The Lesson: If they follow through without being reminded, they’ve shown integrity. If they forget, use it as a low-stakes moment to discuss why our "word" matters to the people who trust us.
