The STAGS Weekly Scoop from Co-Principals, Mrs. Manfred & Mrs. Krauss!

Dear Families,

We appreciate your attendance and participation in our fall parent/teacher conferences. We learn so much from your feedback on ways to best support your child and how we can partner together to foster your child’s learning and spiritual growth. Thank you for making your children’s education a top priority!

Along with our students growing in their skills and knowledge, our teachers have been able to do the same these last two days during our in-service training. Our teachers have been engaged in professional development focused on adopting a new writing program for grades 3-8 and executive functioning training for grades K-2. It is important for us to provide opportunities for our staff to collaborate with one another and discuss best practices in education and how to apply these ideas in their classrooms.

We are grateful for how our school community unites together to ensure the education of the whole child. We had over 200 students participate in fall sports, clubs and afterschool activities. All of this is possible because of the tremendous support of our parent community! When you make sure your child attends practice or their club, volunteer to coach or chaperone, and attend their activities, the benefits reach far beyond that moment! We appreciate you!

May you feel the excitement that follows the change of seasons and experience God’s new mercies and graces this week!

In gratitude,

Angie Krauss & Dawn Manfred

Important Reminders from the Co-Principals

  • Parents, we ask for your support in reminding your students that school expectations and rules apply when they attend school sponsored activities and sporting events, both on our campus, after school hours, and at Gonzaga Prep. We expect our students to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and good sportsmanship through their words and actions. As members of the St. Al’s community, our students represent our school wherever they go, and we appreciate your partnership in helping them make choices that reflect our values and Jesuit mission.

  • If you are interested in becoming a Parent Driver: There is a Catholic Mutual Group online defensive driving curriculum, titled "Be Smart – Drive Safe." This course is free of charge and can be found on the CMG Connect platform.

  • To report a student absence, tardy, early dismissal, or to relay a message to the front office throughout the day, please email attendance@stalsschool.org or call 509-489-7825.

Mission Advancement - Friendraising & Fundraising

The countdown to Hallowfest is ON!!

Hallowfest is 10 DAYS AWAY!! Join us Friday, October 30, from 5:30-7:30 PM, for one of our favorite St. Al’s traditions!! Get ready for an evening filled with costumes, games, prizes, candy, TWO cake walk locations, a special ELC game area, food, and plenty of good old St. Al’s Hallowfest fun!!

REMINDER: HALLOWFEST IS FREE FOR ALL ST. AL’S FAMILIES!! No more tickets needed!! Food will be available for purchase in the cafeteria with CASHLESS payment only, so if you are planning on eating during Hallowfest, please make sure to bring a card with you!

As always, we rely heavily on our families' support to help make Hallowfest the amazing event it is - whether you are an ELC, Montessori or K-8 family, we need your help!!

Volunteers needed: From preparations leading up to Hallowfest to running games during the event, there are lots of opportunities to get involved and earn service hours. Visit the Service Opportunities link below to find a spot that works for you!!

Feed the Candy Monsters!! Our candy monsters are HUNGRY!!! Each family is asked to donate two bags of individually packaged candy or individually packaged healthy treats to help stock our game booths. Donations can be dropped off with any of the candy monsters, located at the main entrance front desk, downstairs desk or Garco desk.

Small Prize Donations: NEW THIS YEAR! In addition to candy, we’re collecting small prizes for our game booths! Play-doh, fidget toys, stickers, and other small kid friendly toys are all great options. Families will earn service hours for these donations, however you MUST sign up online on Track it Forward to earn those hours. Please deliver all donations to the main front desk with Miss Janet or Mr. Shane by Wednesday, October 28.

Cake Walk Donations: Calling all bakers!! Our Hallowfest Cake Walk is always a crowd favorite… so much so that we now have TWO locations (yahoo, less of a line!!) Two cake walks = more treats needed, so if you love to bake, we need you! Mrs. Krauss and Mrs. Manfred will once again be judging the cake entries in categories like spookiest, silliest and scariest!! As always, families will earn service hours for treat donations. Please sign up online through Track it Forward, and remember, all items must be dropped off by NOON on Friday, October 30!!

Hallowfest Sponsorships:
We need families and/or businesses to sponsor this awesome community event! See all the fun details below!

We cannot wait to see you and your family dressed up and ready for another fabulous Hallowfest evening!!
