The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 22nd, from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM in the North Gym. Students are expected to arrive by 8:25 AM on the day of the test.
A reminder email will be sent to all registered students as the testing date approaches.
Parent/Caregiver Conferences
It is hard to believe that we are already at Parent/Teacher conference week! This week we set aside specific time to ensure we are connecting with our parents/caregivers. However, ANY time is a good time for a conference. Please don't hesitate to reach out to a teacher if you have a question or concern at any time. Do know that teachers will be reaching out to schedule a conference with you! Unfortunately there are simply not enough hours in the day for teachers to meet with every parent/caregiver during this time. We prioritize the families who have encountered the most barriers to communication or success starting with our families that use interpretation to communicate and then focusing on our students that have not yet experienced success in the classroom. If there are no openings with your student's teacher during these set aside times we are more than happy to communicate via email for an update or find another time to connect.
Conferences will take place on the following dates:
🗓️Thursday, October 23 from 4:15 - 8:00PM
🗓️Friday, October 24 from 7:30 - 11:45AM
Wolf Study Lounge
The Wolf Study Lounge begins on October 20th. This allows students to get support in multiple subjects both before and after school.

PreACT Results for Grades 9, 10, & 11
Parents & Caregivers, Thank you for supporting your scholar during the fall PreACT assessment. We are grateful for the way our students showed effort and focus during testing. Student Reports have been mailed home.
Results are also available online. To view your scholar’s report:
Go to https://nextpath.app/login.
Select “log in with email” under the Guardian option.
The first time you sign in, you will be asked to confirm some information for your child(ren).
Once logged in, select PreACT Local.
The Student Report includes:
Subject and Composite Scores
Readiness Benchmarks
National Percentile Rank
Predicted ACT Score
STEM score (Science and Math)
Progress Toward Career Readiness
You can learn more about these scores here: Using Your PreACT Results.
Because the PreACT is similar to the ACT, these resources can help students plan and prepare for spring testing: Test Prep, Kaplan Test Prep, & ACT practice test. Students also have free access to ACT and SAT prep through Methodize, which can be found under the Resources tab on Xello (available on school-issued devices).
The score report is only one piece of your scholar’s learning story. Their growth also shows up in the classroom—through teacher observations, daily work, and other assessments collected across the school year. We look forward to supporting and celebrating their growth throughout the year.
USMC Scholarship
Students interested in learning more about the Marine Corps Scholarship can attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, October 28 during WIN Time. Students should sign up in FlexiSched with Ms. Griffin.

Running as a PACK
We continue to run together as a PACK. Our universal expectations are that we approach everything we do in our community with Pride, Accountability, Collaboration and Kindness.
Grounding ourselves in the concept of One West and PACK is the foundation of all that we do. It takes each and every one of us doing our part to make this community the incredible place that it is and it is growing into being. Everything that we do as individuals and a community is to bring our West Equity Vision to life:

Event Guideliness
Please review the SPASD event guidelines. Our athletes are ready to take the field, stage, pool, court, pitch, course and so much more this school year. Together we will continue to make these fantastic, safe and enjoyable events for all.
All West students will need their student ID or if they have not yet received their 25/26 student ID, they will need to look up their Infinite Campus profile. This can be done in advance and screenshotted for quick access.
Building Hours
- Building opens at 8:05: Students may enter the building at 8:05 and will remain in the commons 8:20. Between 8:05-8:20 students may eat breakfast and socialize in the commons. At 8:20 students may begin to move to their classes.
- If your transportation situation makes it impossible to drop off your students later than 8:05 they will be allowed to stand in the vestibule (between the glass doors) until 8:05, particularly on inclement weather days
- Building Closes at 4:00: At 4:00pm the building closes daily. All students must be with an adult (coach, club/activity, 5th hour tutoring, etc) or leave the building for safety as we do not have supervision available after 4:00pm.
Please plan rides, drop off/pick up accordingly.
Theory of Action 2025-20206
In the 25-26 school year we are continuing of our focus on disrupting inequities, creating a culture of care and rigorous and coherent teaching. This year we will also start to layer on the next three components of the Instructional Framework: multiple means to demonstrate understanding, learning partnerships and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching. Over the last year we had a hyper focus on attendance and our data shows that we have a strong foundation in addition to build on to now focus specifically on literacy and numeracy (reading and math outcomes).
SP100 Adult Practice Focus
In SPASD we break our year long school improvement plans to bring our Theory of Action to life and make progress to our Scorecard into 3, 100-day plans. Our 3 adult practice areas (gaols) this yeaer are:
- Adult Practice Focus #1 - Use knowledge of students and knowledge of standards to collaboratively design rigorous and responsive instruction for all students
- Adult Practice Focus #2 - Facilitate healing the harm to relationships and restoring community
- Adult Practice Focus #3 - Use data to challenge and dismantle oppressive systemic, personal, and instructional policies and practices
Schedules
Our A/B Day Schedule and our Regular Bell Schedule. The A/B Day schedule is set for the year and will not change even if we have snow/cold days. Please note that Semester 1 starts and ends on an A Day and Semester 2 starts and ends on a B Day.
