A Message from Mrs. Albright
Friday, September 11, 2026
It was a wonderfully busy week here at Yorkshire! Between wrapping up our beginning-of-the-year testing, smiling big for picture day, and diving into tons of great learning, our students and staff didn't miss a beat. Thank you for all your support at home in helping us keep the momentum strong!
Today, we took a quiet moment of silence to remember the brave heroes and the many people who were lost on September 11. Taking a minute to be quiet helps us show respect and kindness. It reminds us how important it is to help one another, stay strong together, and always treat each other with care.
A huge thank you to our very first Door Dad of the school year for bringing so much energy and big smiles to morning drop-off today! Thereβs truly no better way to kick off our Fridays than seeing our students greeted with such warm, welcoming high-fives. We appreciate you setting the tone for an amazing weekend ahead!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for our Spirit Day on Tuesday, September 15! Weβre celebrating International Dot Day, so encourage your students to wear dots as we talk about creativity, courage, and making our mark on the world. We can't wait to see all the great patterns and positive energy around Yorkshire!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for Fall Family Fun Night on Wednesday, September 23! Bring the family for an evening of hands-on crafts, fun games, and autumn activities as we kick off the school year. Stay tuned for full event details coming your way soon.
Gather your family and join us for the York Suburban Homecoming Parade on Thursday, September 24! We will line up in front of York Suburban High School by 6:15 PM to kick off an evening packed with community spirit. Stick around after the parade to cheer on the powderpuff games, the bonfire, and enjoy lively homecoming festivities for all ages. Don't forget to wear your orange and black to help us celebrate!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful long weekend making memories together!

A Note From the Nurse's Office
Hello from the nurses office. Now that we are getting back into the routines of school, we want to address the important topic of sleep. Adequate sleep is critical for children aged 5 to 8, as it directly impacts their ability to succeed in school and maintain overall health. During these years, sufficient rest supports memory consolidation, attention span, and problem-solving skills, all vital for effective learning in the classroom. Additionally, consistent sleep is essential for physical growth and the regulation of mood and behavior. Children in this age group typically need 9 to 12 hours of sleep per night to support their developing brains and bodies. Establishing a regular, relaxing bedtime routine, free from screens, is key to ensuring they get the quality rest they need to thrive. Please see the link below for tips if your child is having difficulty sleeping.
