Note From Principal Pautler Note From Principal Pautler

Hello Bulldog Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re already turning the page to November! Between football, testing, and flu season, things are rolling right along here at Memorial. Here are a few highlights for the week:

🎵 Band Season Finale – Let’s Hear It for the Dawg Pound Brass!

Our incredible Bulldog Marching Band wraps up their competitive season this Saturday, November 1st. We are so proud of their hard work and outstanding performances this fall! Once they return home, you might notice a little extra parking freedom around campus — the band practice field lot will reopen on Monday! Just in time for colder mornings and the annual “which student didn't scrape their frost-covered car windshield” game. Thank you to everyone for your patience while we gave our musicians the space they needed to shine.

🧠
PreACT for All Sophomores – November 7th

Attention sophomore families: all 10th-grade students will take the PreACT on Friday, November 7th. There’s no need to bring anything special — just get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, and show up on time. We’ve found that #2 pencils work best when held by a well-rested teenager!

🏈 Friday Night Lights – and a Thursday Finale

The Bulldogs face Broken Arrow tonight at home, and we’re wishing our team all the best! But don’t forget — the final regular-season game is next Thursday night at home as we take on Union High School. It’s our last regular season game of the year, so let’s pack the stands and cheer loud enough to be heard across Edmond. Playoff details will be shared as soon as we have them.

💉 Flu Shots Coming to Memorial – November 7th

Cold and flu season is upon us (and apparently, parking lot season too). Total Wellness will be on campus the afternoon of November 7th to provide flu shots for students whose families have completed the permission form. If you missed the email, no worries — we’ve linked it again by CLICKING HERE.

🍎 EMHS Backpack Program – Support for Our Bulldog Families

With the recent government shutdown, we understand that some families may be experiencing added challenges. At Edmond Memorial, we want to ensure that every student has what they need — including access to food over the weekend. Our Backpack Program provides students with a discreet bag of food each Friday to take home. This program is completely confidential and designed to support families who may need a little extra help right now. If you’d like your student to participate or want to learn more, please reach out to your grade-level counselor. We’re here to help and are proud to be part of a community that takes care of one another. If you are interested in donating items to the EMHS food pantry, please CLICK HERE.

Cross Country State Championships – Let’s Go Bulldogs!

This Saturday, both the Boys’ and Girls’ EMHS Cross Country Teams will compete for a state title at the OSSAA 6A State Championships! The meet will be held at Edmond Santa Fe High School, with races kicking off around 9:00 a.m. on the scenic Santa Fe Wolf Trail. Our Bulldog runners have put in countless early mornings, tough workouts, and miles of dedication to reach this point — and now it’s time to see it all pay off! We’d love to see a big Memorial crowd out there cheering them on as they take on the best teams in the state.

As always, OSSAA state-level events require tickets purchased directly through the OSSAA.

🎟️ [CLICK HERE for State Cross Country Tickets!]

That’s all for this week, Bulldog family! Stay warm, stay healthy, and as always — thank you for all you do to support our students, staff, and school community.

When the Cafeteria Decides to “Act Up”

Well… when poop comes up through the café floor (not exactly in the Facilities Manual, by the way), we spring into action like a hazmat superhero team. As you probably know, this exact problem actually happened in the main building lower commons this week. Our custodial crew responded immediately with EPA-approved disinfectant, plenty of bleach, and the kind of determination usually reserved for movie heroes saving the planet. Every tabletop, chair, and surface was sprayed, wiped, and sanitized—and then sanitized again just to be sure. The area is now sparkling clean and perfectly safe for students and staff.

Now, the mystery part is figuring out why this keeps happening in certain areas of the school. We’re on the case and hope to have that mystery solved soon—preferably before we all need rubber boots. Please reassure your students that the cafeteria is back to normal (and probably cleaner than it’s ever been).

Note from Child Nutrition

Many have reached out with some concerns over SNAP benefits ending next week due to the government shutdown. Luckily, students who qualify for free meals through their SNAP benefits are qualified for the entire school year, so they will still qualify for free meals even if other SNAP benefits are lost.

EMHS State Champion Girls Track Information

Our state champion girls track team hosted a callout meeting this week that included information about tryouts for the 2025/26 team. There were a few activities going on when this meeting took place so I wanted to give a little bit of information in the newsletter.

Senior Jostens Information

Hello senior parents/guardians!

This morning, seniors met with Jostens reps to go over information on ordering their caps/gowns. Please note the following important highlights from that meeting. I am also attaching the flyer that was given out today from Jostens.

  • You can order your cap/gown by going to jostens.com. They have a variety of packages available. The only thing the school requires you to purchase is the basic cap/gown/tassel package.
  • Caps/gowns/tassels will be delivered during Senior Morning in April.
  • The early-bird pricing deadline is October 8. After that, prices will continue to increase each month. Order yours ASAP to avoid any price increases! Edmond Memorial asks that you have your cap/gown ordered by November 21.
  • Students filled out a postcard with contact information so Jostens can send you reminders directly. I am attaching a QR code you can scan to sign up for those reminders as well, if you have not yet done so.
  • If you need financial assistance for your cap/gown, your senior needs to visit with their counselor. They have applications available for a scholarship program through the school. The deadline to apply for financial assistance is October 24.
  • If you have questions about ordering your child's cap and gown, please contact Jostens directly at 405-607-4343.

Also, these links were sent out yesterday, but it doesn't hurt to have them in one more place:

  • To reserve a legacy cowl, please fill out this Google Form (legacies are for students who had a parent/grandparent/great-grandparent/etc. graduate from Memorial. Siblings/aunts/uncles/cousins are excluded - this is generational only)
  • To reserve a military cord, please fill out this Google Form (these are provided for free from Tinker AFB for any students who has an immediate family member who has served or is currently serving in the US military (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.)
  • The deadline to reserve these is December 5.

Please be sure you have joined our Band group to stay up-to-date on all important information (https://band.us/@26seniors).

For general graduation questions, please email me at emily.busey@edmondschools.net. For questions specifically about ordering caps/gowns, please contact Jostens (405-607-4343).
