A Message From Mrs. Salas:
Dear Runyan Families,
Thank you for a successful first grading period. I hope you enjoy this four-day weekend with your family.
This is a friendly reminder that CISD will have a student holiday. No school on Friday, Oct 10 and Monday, Oct 13. Please plan accordingly.
In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month and Red Ribbon Week, let's unite to spread kindness, acceptance, inclusion, and courage. Runyan will have Spirit Days throughout October. See flier below.
Free and reduced lunch applications are open! These benefits expired in September, do not wait! Staff members will be calling families and offer support to complete applications. You can also come to school to have access to a computer and complete the online application in the office. APPLY HERE: https://www.myschoolapps.com/
Don't forget to follow us on Facebook. We post updates, reminders, and campus happenings. @RunyanCISD
Regards,

Important Reminders
Backpacks:
- Students should bring their backpack every day to school.
- They should have two backpack tags (Smart tag and regular tag).
- It's important to keep both tags attached to their backpack as we use them for dismissal daily.
- When students do not have a tag, they slow down our dismissal procedures resulting in late buses or waiting longer in car rider line.
School Hours:
- School hours are 7:55 to 3:10 again this year.
- Instruction will begin promptly at 7:55. Students who arrive after 7:55 will be counted tardy.
- Doors open at 7:10 to support our families. Take advantage of this service and avoid arriving late. Staff members are not available to stay at car rider line after 7:55 a.m.
Tardy Students
- After the first week of school, students must arrive before 7:55AM to be on time to class.
- Students arriving after 7:55AM must be checked in by a parent or guardian in the front office.
- Students eating breakfast at school should arrive no later than 7:45AM
Early Start:
- In an effort to reduce volume on the morning car rider line and to support parents needing earlier drop off, limited staff will be available to receive students starting at 7:10 AM on Monday, August 18th.
- Students will sit in the cafeteria and wait until regular arrival time at 7:25. They will then be released to eat breakfast or go to class.
- Please unload your student as we will have limited staff at the door.
- Students with behavior struggles or needing high levels of supervision should not be dropped off at 7:10 AM and should wait until normal drop off at 7:25AM.
Dismissal:
- Please be patient as we work through our car rider line process, as parents learn the traffic pattern, and as bus drivers learn their routes.
- All car riders will need the 25-26 car rider sign.
- Our number one priority is for all students arrive to and from school safely.
- Parents can request additional car rider signs, these will be placed in students' backpacks after the second week of school.
Lunch Visitors:
- Parents are welcome to sign up to come and eat with their child using the same procedures as last year.
School Meals:
- Lunch will not be free for students, unless your family qualify.
- Remember to apply online for free and reduced lunch. Even if your child qualified last year, you need to re-apply every year. APPLY HERE: https://www.myschoolapps.com/

REGARDING ILLNESS
A student will be sent home from school, with the following symptoms:
Temperature of 100 degrees or more, please keep your child home, until fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducer medication. This ensures your child is well and will not spread illness at school. A student should not be sent to school if a fever reducing medication is required to get the temperature below 100 degrees
Vomiting or diarrhea
Too ill to function in the classroom
Suspected contagious condition or disease
Vision and Hearing Screenings:
Pre-K, Kinder, 1st and 3rd graders and those new to Texas, will have vision and hearing screening this fall. Referrals will be sent home with those who fail.
