Fragrance Free School

Due to student & staff sensitivities/allergies related to fragrances, we are a fragrance free school. Please help us keep our school safe for all of our puffins by not using cologne or perfume on your child and refrain from wearing it when you volunteer.

Thank you!

YOUR PRESENCE MATTERS!

Did you know that missing just 2 days of school each month can add up to chronic absence? Every day at school is another opportunity to learn, connect with friends, build relationships, and grow.

And families, remember:

Running late? Come anyway!

Having a tough morning? Come anyway!

Need help getting your child to school? Reach out, we’re here to help.

Pacific Ridge Fall Traditions

  • On Friday, October 30th ~ Students are able to bring a carved or painted/decorated jack-o-lantern to school to enter into our jack-o-lantern carving contest. Which pumpkin will be the most original, scariest, funniest, or have the ‘best smile? We can’t wait to see your creations! *Unfortunately pumpkins cannot ride the bus UNLESS they can easily fit inside a backpack!

  • In addition, students can wear/bring costumes (that can easily be put on over clothes) to school on this day! We ask that all props (wands, swords, etc.) be left at home and that students’ costumes be school-appropriate and not include anything that could be frightening for any of our students—any fake-blood or gore, weapon-like items, masks, or face coverings (including make-up) should be saved for trick-or-treating and not worn to school.

The Great Oregon ShakeOut!

Last Thursday, our Pacific Ridge Puffins participated in the Great ShakeOut Earthquake and Tsunami Drill! Our students and staff practiced important safety procedures to help us be prepared in the event of an earthquake or tsunami.

We are so proud of our Puffins for taking the drill seriously, following directions, and doing a great job!

A little extra book fair magic, thanks to Bruce’s Candy Kitchen!

Thanks to their generosity, every Pacific Ridge teacher received a gift certificate to shop at our Scholastic Book Fair! Teachers were able to purchase books for their classroom libraries, student gifts, or classroom prizes! Pictured are just a few of our happy teachers showing off their Book Fair finds!

We are so grateful to Bruce’s Candy Kitchen for their kindness and continued support of our teachers and students.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference!

Lighthouse Church surprised our Pacific Ridge staff with a thoughtful gift of sodas, but it was the kindness and message behind the gesture that meant the most! Knowing our staff is appreciated, supported, and thought of by our community is such a wonderful feeling.

Thank you, Lighthouse Church, for taking the time to brighten our day and remind our staff how valued they are!

Health Screening Schedule for all Seaside Schools:

Vision Screenings:

  • October 27: Pacific Ridge Elementary, all grades

  • October 29: Seaside Secondary Schools, all grades

Dental Screenings and Sealants:

  • November 3-6: Seaside Secondary Schools

  • February 23-March 5: Pacific Ridge Elementary

Tooth Taxi:

  • Already came to PRE in mid September 2026

  • December 7-11, 2026: Seaside Secondary Schools

Vision Screenings: The Seaside School District is proud to partner with the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation to provide vision screenings for all students in the district that are present on the date of screening. Screenings take place one day each fall for the Secondary Building and another day at Pacific Ridge Elementary. Screenings are done with volunteers from the local Lions club using a Welch Allyn Spot device that can detect eight different vision issues. Students that wear glasses should wear them for the screening. If your student is absent on the day of screening, we are able to screen your student with the district’s Plus Optix screener per parent or staff request. Please notify your student’s school if you would like to opt out of vision screenings each year. If your student fails the screening, it is strongly recommended that you follow up with an eye exam at your eye doctor.

Dental Screenings: During the school year, preventative dental services are offered to students free of charge with parental consent. All students are welcome to participate. The service includes a screening, fluoride treatment, and dental sealants provided by Arrow Dental. Parents must sign and complete the consent form in its entirety for their student to receive services. If you want your student to participate, please turn in the consent form as soon as possible.

Field Trips & School Volunteers

We love parent volunteers at our school! Typically, teachers organize parent volunteers for their own classrooms. Teachers depend on parent volunteers to assist with reading and math instruction as well as with other special projects, activities and field trips.

If you're interesting in volunteering the first step is to complete our background check and then contact your child's teacher to let them know your availability to help.

If you have an hour a week you could regularly give to your child’s classroom, the teacher would really appreciate the help. We know our parent volunteers are very important to the success of our overall program.

***All volunteers must have current background checks on file with our office. CLICK HERE for more information on how to become a volunteer. Background checks generally are good for 2 years. If you are unsure if you have a current background check on file, please email Debbie at dhillman@seasidek12.org.

Volunteer Code of Conduct:

To volunteer in the Seaside School District, applicants must complete a background screening and agree to the following Volunteer Code of Conduct:

1. I will sign in at the school office upon arrival.

2. I will wear/show volunteer identification whenever I am volunteering in a school.

3. I will follow the directions of the building principals, teachers, and other appropriate staff; I will ask for clarification if I have questions about school/district policy or rules.

4. I understand that volunteers are role models for students and I will conduct myself in a professional, respectful manner at all times.

5. I understand that when I volunteer my full attention is needed; I will not bring non-student children with me when I volunteer.

6. I will be a good listener and will encourage students with positive words and comments. I understand that it is not a volunteer’s job to discipline students and will inform school staff immediately if discipline issues arise.

7. I will share with teachers and/or school administrators any concerns that I may have in regard to student welfare and/or safety.

8. I will use only adult bathroom facilities.

9. I understand that Seaside School District has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion of all students. I will uphold district policies and values while volunteering. I will not share my personal or political views with students while volunteering.

10. I will be dependable and on time; I will communicate with the school/teacher if I am unable to volunteer on my regular day/time.

11. I will not possess or use tobacco/nicotine products, or be under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or illegal drugs on school property or during school events off campus.

12. I understand that while volunteering I may learn private or sensitive information about students, families, or staff. I will keep information about students and/or staff confidential, except to carry out my volunteer duties or as outlined in this code of conduct.

13. I will protect myself, and students, by always working within view of a school staff member.

14. I will refrain from touching or hugging students, even if the student is the one who initiates the physical contact.

15. I will silence my cell phone and refrain from use of my cell phone when volunteering.

16. I will notify the School District Office immediately if I am arrested for a misdemeanor or felony sex, drug, assault or weapon related offense.

When children are hungry, they aren't able to focus on the job of learning. The Food4Kids Seaside Program is available to help! This program is designed for children who attend Pacific Ridge Elementary School and may not have enough food on the weekends. The volunteers at Food4Kids provide a bag filled with food on the last school day before each weekend. Students will bring this food home from school on that day.

Please call our school office if you have any questions. If you have more than one child in need of a food bag, please fill out this form for each child.

Student & Family Information

Welcome to Pacific Ridge!

The purpose of this handbook is to acquaint you with the people, programs, and policies of Pacific Ridge Elementary School. We hope it serves as a helpful resource as you become familiar with our school community and all that Pacific Ridge has to offer.

Our school is outstanding because of our professional, caring, and dedicated staff and because our families understand the importance of and care deeply about their children’s education. We believe that the strongest partnerships happen when families and teachers work closely together to support each child. By combining our knowledge, communication, and efforts, we can help every student learn, grow, and thrive.

We encourage you to be an active part of our school community. Pacific Ridge has a wonderful and active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), and we value the many ways our families contribute to our school.

When families are actively involved in their children’s education, students benefit in so many ways, including higher academic achievement, improved attendance and behavior, increased motivation, a more positive attitude toward school, and, ultimately, greater success.

We believe open communication between home and school is essential. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher and schedule a time to meet.

Our school counselor, district school nurse, and family liaison are also available to provide support and consultation as needed. We are fortunate to have a team of caring professionals who are here to support both students and families.

If you have questions, concerns, or ideas that we can help address, please don't hesitate to reach out to the principal or school office. Our office staff can help you schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher, the principal, or any of the other members of our student support team.

Our goal is for every child to feel safe, supported, valued, and successful at Pacific Ridge Elementary. We look forward to partnering with you and your child throughout the school year and building a strong relationship between home and school.

Together, we can help every child imagine the possibilities and reach their full potential!

Sincerely, Juliann Wozniak,

Principal Pacific Ridge Elementary School
