Lakeland Ridge has been selected to have a special visit from Kirsten Fox, Terry’s niece, on November 19th! Kirsten has been part of the Terry Fox Foundation for 14 years and brings a wonderful personal connection to Terry’s story. Through engaging stories and reflections, she shares a unique perspective on Terry’s life, his legacy, and the lasting impact of his Marathon of Hope.

Kirsten will deliver an engaging 20-minute presentation, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session, giving students the opportunity to learn more about Terry and ask questions. It’s a wonderful chance for students to connect with Terry’s story in a meaningful way and discover how his determination and vision continue to inspire cancer research and future generations.

Live Access to Student Assessment Information is Now Available Live Access to Student Assessment Information is Now Available

With the 2026-27 school year underway, live access to your child’s assessment information is now available through the “Grades and Attendance” tab in your PowerSchool Parent Portal for all Lakeland Ridge School students. Your child's gradebook may only have a few assessments at this time, but additional assessment information will continue to be added throughout the school year. We encourage families to review the gradebook information within the Parent Portal regularly to learn more about what your child is learning this year. More information resources about this assessment information and how to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal is available on the Student Assessment page of the Division website.

If you have any questions about how your child is doing this school year, reach out directly to their teacher. If you have any issues logging into your Parent Portal account, reach out to the school office at 780-416-9018.

With the winter season almost here, the school has a few reminders for families:

  • Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.

  • If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, and posts updates on social media and eips.ca.

  • Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.” Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.

  • When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.

For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.

Annual Plans to Guide our Work in the Year Ahead Annual Plans to Guide our Work in the Year Ahead

Throughout Elk Island Public Schools, each school annually develops a handful of plans to guide its work throughout the school year. The Guide to Reporting Student Achievement (GRSA), School Education Plan (SEP) and Personal Mobile Device (PMD) Plans for the 2026-27 school year are now available! These documents all support success for students and schools across the Division, aligning with the EIPS Four-Year Education Plan: 2026-30 (Year 1).

· The GRSA explains how the school assesses student achievement, determines grades and more.

· The SEP details the school’s priorities and goals for the year—with key strategies and measures in achieving these outcomes.

· The PMD plan outlines each school’s policy on the use of personal devices at school.

You can access Lakeland Ridge’s GRSA, SEP and PMD plan through the corresponding home page tiles at https://www.lakelandridge.ca/
