The Summiteer
School to Home Newsletter - MAY 2026
If you have not registered your student(s) ONLINE
for the 2026-27 school year, please do as soon as possible.
You should have received a snap code from PowerSchool Enrollment.
If you did not receive it, please check your SPAM folder first.
If nothing is there, please contact the school at 208-324-3369 and Ms. Brewer can assist you with this.
Failure to register early could result in your student(s) not being able to ride the bus at the beginning of the school year.
At that time, it could take 2-3 weeks to get them routed on a bus!
Open Enrollments are also affected and may be denied if registrations and paperwork are not submitted early! Thank you for your help with this!
STAY ENGAGED over Summer Break! Incorporate reading with trips to the library or family reading time and get outside and learn new things. Create art, sing, count everything as you go and have fun but never stop learning!
Monthly School to Home Principal Newsletter
Dear Grown-ups,
Wow! Ten more days of school seems surreal! It sure has flown by quickly! We have we been busy "showing what we know" on tests and having many educational field trips and recognition assemblies! Oh yes, and looking forward to much needed Field Days and Fun in the Fun Day type of fun!!
If you have not yet registered your NEW kindergartener or returning student for next fall (1st through 4th for SY26-27 registration is ONLINE) please do so as soon as possible! Use the snap code you received in your email (check your SPAM folder) or Call Ms. Tina for assistance in our office at 208-324-3396.
May 12th-14th is the end of the year Track and Field Day to promote fun and fitness (Prepare to have fun and get a little wet)! Not to mention all the educational Field trips the spring holds! We will also be having a "Summit CLIMBers" run recognizing most growth on MAP Reading and MAP Math, a "Math Stickler" competition with grades 3-5 and Schoolwide PBIS Recognition Assembly.
Please watch the calendar of "Important Events" and "Important upcoming Field trips/events/performances" sections at the bottom of this newsletter carefully to plan accordingly for the days events with dress up attire, dress up days or other needed items. There sure is A LOT going on!
We DO go outside to play every day. Children need movement throughout the day so we send them outside to play as often as we are able to to get them the necessary movement they need to release energy, be healthy, and improve focus. PLEASE send them to school dressed in appropriate OUTDOOR clothing for the days weather. It can still be quite cool in the morning and very warm in the afternoon so dressing in layers is very helpful.
Students are encouraged to go outside and be social, play and MOVE during recess unless they have had behavioral issues and are assigned time in the APEX room or occasionally need to finish required academics with their teacher during this time.
LOST and FOUND has a lot of unclaimed items in it! Please stop in to look for your child's items if you have been looking for them.
Our Summit Team has very high goals for our students’ academic learning and growth for this year and many years to come! We also want to decrease absenteeism, late arrivals (tardies), early pick ups and poor behavior. We have been putting many systems in place to achieve our goals and our team works tirelessly to help students be their best and achieve these goals. We are a fantastic elementary school and are working towards being the best! Spread the word as we CLIMB onwards and upwards!
We will be practicing an ALICE SAFETY EVACUATION drill at 1:00pm on May 11th. We want to let you know ahead of time so you do not worry! This is ONLY A PRACTICE DRILL so student know what to do in the event of an emergency or intruder requiring us to evacuate!
Spring holds many VERY IMPORTANT test days and times for your student to demonstrate what they have learned over the course of this school year. The students have all been working so very hard and I would ask that you encourage your students to take tests seriously and to try their best on each one. Also, praise them often to build testing confidence and pride in doing hard things well. We would also ask that you help support them with bedtime routines, eating breakfast and completing homework (if they have any). A great night's sleep and a good breakfast really starts a testing day off on the right foot! Thank you for your continued support with testing and academic support. It really matters!
Please know that we will not allow students to be disrespectful, physically aggressive, disruptive to others learning, destructive, or verbally demeaning to any of our staff or students. We do help teach students to self regulate their emotions and behaviors but in the event they are unable to self regulate we do call parents and have them take them home until they can participate appropriately in an educational setting learning alongside with their peers. We will not let the behavior of one child interfere with the learning of all the rest of the students in their classroom.
We need all staff and students to be safe and learning at all times. Teaching respect, boundaries, manners, and self control/regulation all start at home with you, the parent(s), and we are here to support you with those efforts. Thank you for your help and understanding with this. We are all in this together.
Sincerely,
Amber Boone
Principal
Summit Elementary

Parents: Please remember to call the school for
absences or email tina.brewer@jeromeschools.org.
Also to reach the office you need to call before
2:30 M-R and 1:30 on Fridays,
for changes in how your student is getting home.
It can get really busy in the office at the end of the day and we might not be able to take your call. DO NOT assume leaving a message during these times is enough.
Be sure to speak with a real person in the office before the above times
to ensure the message is received.
Students will not be allowed to change routes and will be sent on their regularly scheduled method of transportation home WITHOUT WRITTEN permission or a phone call from parent(s).
PLEASE AVOID picking up student early from school!
You may sit and wait for the dismissal bell in the lobby if you choose to
but students are not dismissed through the front doors--
students can be picked up at the flag pole.
As a rule STUDENTS will not be called out of class early for parent pick up
to avoid waiting in line. Students are learning bell to bell.
If a student is needed for an appointment the request will be granted
but you will need to BRING IN A NOTE from the provider (Dr. /Dentist etc.)
