A Message from Dr. Sanchez
Hola PMSA Community,
As we officially bring Quarter One to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has truly been a remarkable start to our school year here at PMSA. The past few months have been filled with growth, engagement, and a strong sense of community that continues to make our school such a special place to learn and thrive.
I am thrilled to share that 299 of our 898 students achieved perfect attendance this quarter! This is no small feat; it reflects the dedication, commitment, and perseverance of our students and their families, as well as the hard work of our teachers and staff who create classrooms that students are excited to attend each day. Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success, and this accomplishment speaks volumes about the culture of excellence at PMSA.
In addition to this, our students demonstrated tremendous focus during our practice ACT, where we saw an outstanding 98% attendance rate. I am incredibly proud of the way our students are embracing every chance to grow academically.
This week, we also had the pleasure of hosting our Junior Night on Thursday evening, an important milestone for our Class of 2026 as they begin to plan their postsecondary journeys.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there! This weekend, we are thrilled to present our school production of The Wizard of Oz. Our talented students and faculty have been working tirelessly both onstage and behind the scenes to bring this classic story to life. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating their creativity and hard work.
As we transition into Quarter Two, I want to thank every member of our PMSA community, students, parents, teachers, and staff, for your continued support.
Let’s carry this momentum forward into the next quarter, "Driven by Excellence, Grounded in Kindness", we are PMSA!
Mil Gracias,
Dr. Sanchez

¡Somos PMSA!
Mil gracias,
Dr. Sánchez

Exploring Culture and Community in Chicago’s Chinatown
Students from Mr. Colwell’s AP Human Geography classes recently enjoyed an engaging visit to the Chinese American Museum of Chicago and the nearby Ping Tom Memorial Park. This annual Chinatown field trip provides students with a hands-on experience that complements their current study of immigration and lays the groundwork for future lessons on urban geography and cultural landscapes.
While exploring the museum, students gained insights into the rich history and contributions of Chinese Americans in Chicago, from early immigration to modern community life. A stroll through Ping Tom Park offered a chance to observe the interplay between urban development and green spaces, reinforcing classroom concepts about city planning, population density, and public spaces.
The field trip not only deepened students’ understanding of geography but also encouraged them to appreciate the cultural diversity that shapes urban communities today.
