Location and Pick up
Drama Club meets in the Romeo Middle School Auditorium.
Pick up will take place in the back parking lot. Students will exit door #32 and walk up the stairs to the parking lot. From there you can exit on the west side of the lot or on the east side where there is a traffic light. There will be times that other activities are going on and the parking lot may be crowded. Therefore, we try to have you pick your child up outside door #32 in the back parking lot to allow you room to park or stand to wait for your child and to have two options of how you can exit the parking lot.
Door #32 is to the right of doors 36 and 35. There are stairs that lead down the hill to door #32. This allows students to look out to the parking lot from the building to look for you and we can monitor them and any students in the building from this location.
Please be sure to pick your child up at 5 PM. Due to other commitments, we are not able to watch your child after 5 PM.

Cost
There is a $10 participation fee to join Drama Club. to help cover the cost of materials/resources used to run the club. So, for the price of a fancy Starbucks drink, your child can have a new experience and build memories. Participants must also have filled out the permission slip and have a ride promptly at 5:00 PM by door #32 back parking lot.
What should I bring?
Students should bring a packed snack to eat (peanut/tree nut aware) and water bottle. We will have a set break time where all students will sit down at tables and eat a snack to help get through the long day. Students can relax and enjoy their food while bonding with their peers. Please have your child's name on any water bottle or bags. In addition, students should dress comfortably so they are free to move and participate in all the activities.
What is Drama Club all about?
Drama Club is about building friendships, life skills, creating experiences, and having fun. It allows students to explore theater concepts and learn about the theater arts in a relaxed, informal setting.
The goal for the club is to bring the joy and power of drama to RMS students as they develop life skills and an understanding of the arts. It offers participants the chance to experience the excitement and rewards of theater while developing social skills, confidence, and the ability to work with others to reach a common goal.
Through the use of teacher-guided theater games and activities, participants will learn to express themselves with their voice, mind, and body. All of the activities help students tap into their creativity and expand their imaginations.
Students are expected to be in the theater where we can supervise them. We don't want students wandering outside or around the school while telling their parents they are at Drama Club. We are looking for the students to participate for the allotted time for the club. Obviously, if a student needs to sit out of an activity or game briefly, that would be fine. However, we can't have students signed up and just come to hang out with others and do their own thing. This distracts the participants and doesn't allow us to give our attention to the purpose of the club. We will schedule short breaks for bathroom use and drinks, as well as a scheduled break where students can socialize, relax, and eat their brought snacks.
Students can attend all the meetings or just the ones that are not conflicting with an important event. If a student can't attend a meeting for the entire time, that is fine. We just ask that you make us aware of this so we know that they will have a ride at the specified time. This will help us know that a child is not using this as an excuse to leave and wander around unsupervised without their parents or us knowing it.
Your child's safety is a priority. We need all participants to abide by our guidelines and help create an atmosphere where everyone is safe, kind, and considerate. If for any reason a participant feels uncomfortable or has an issue with anyone else, please tell them to talk to one of the instructors right away. This will allow us to remedy the situation. They can even email us or have a parent email us, if they are not comfortable to talk to us about it directly. They should definitely notify their parents regardless.
All participants are to be kind, respectful, and courteous to one another or they will not be allowed to participate in drama club.
Finally, all students need a ride home each meeting PROMPTLY at 5:00 due to other commitments which don’t allow us to oversee the safety of your child after that time. Students are to be picked up at the back parking lot near door number 32.
