This past week was filled with learning, exploration, and connection!

¡La semana pasada estuvo llena de aprendizaje, exploración y conexión!

On Thursday, we hosted our 3rd Annual Science Fair, and it was a phenomenal success! We received 27 excellent submissions from our budding scientists, showcasing their creativity, curiosity, and hard work. A huge thank you to all the students (and families!) for their dedication to this event.

El jueves celebramos nuestra 3ª Feria Anual de Ciencias, ¡y fue un éxito fenomenal! Recibimos 27 proyectos de nuestros jóvenes científicos, demostrando su creatividad, curiosidad y esfuerzo. Un enorme agradecimiento a todos los estudiantes (¡y familias!) por su dedicación a este evento.

🙏 Special thanks to our incredible judges: Ms. Ha, Angela Juniphant, Sophia Majeed, Christine Walsh, Sharyl Wong, Andrew Young, Henry Yeung, Veena Dubal, and Meredith Foran. We also loved the visit from the Burlingame High School Robotics Team, who wowed us with their impressive Gigabot Robot demonstration.

🙏 Un agradecimiento especial a nuestros increíbles jueces: Ms. Ha, Angela Juniphant, Sophia Majeed, Christine Walsh, Sharyl Wong, Andrew Young, Henry Yeung, Veena Dubal y Meredith Foran. También disfrutamos mucho la visita del Equipo de Robótica de Burlingame High School, quienes nos impresionaron con la demostración de su increíble robot Gigabot.

Students presented diverse and fascinating projects, including topics like the “5 Second Rule,” “Paper Chromatography,” “Best Seeds to Plant: Germinated vs. Ungerminated,” and “Best Angle to Throw a Football.” Each student displayed exceptional poster boards and participated in 1-2 interviews with our judges. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Science Fair and hope everyone learned something new about the Scientific Method! 😃

Los estudiantes presentaron diversos y fascinantes proyectos , con temas como la “Regla de los 5 Segundos,” “Cromatografía en Papel,” “Mejores Semillas para Plantar: Germinadas vs. No Germinadas,” y el “Mejor Ángulo para Lanzar un Balón de Fútbol Americano.” Cada estudiante mostró tableros excepcionales y participó en 1-2 entrevistas con nuestros jueces. ¡Ya estamos ansiosos por la Feria de Ciencias del próximo año y esperamos que todos hayan aprendido algo nuevo sobre el Método Científico! 😃

On Wednesday, students enjoyed the assembly with author Emma Bland Smith. Her visit inspired students to think creatively and explore the magic of storytelling.

El miércoles, los estudiantes disfrutaron de asambleas con la autora Emma Bland Smith. Su visita inspiró a los estudiantes a pensar de manera creativa y explorar la magia de la narración.

Finally on Friday, we hosted our monthly Cafecito with the Principal, where we learned more about the 8th Pledge, visited the newly opened South Yard, and explored the MakerSpace classroom. Thank you to all who joined and contributed to the meaningful conversations!

Finalmente, el viernes llevamos a cabo nuestro Cafecito mensual con la Directora, donde aprendimos más sobre el Compromiso 8, visitamos el recién inaugurado South Yard y exploramos el aula de MakerSpace. ¡Gracias a todos los que asistieron y contribuyeron a las conversaciones significativas!

If your child has a planned absence, please request independent study for the following reasons:

1. Continued Learning: Your child can stay engaged in their education and avoid falling behind when returning to school. Even for just a few days, independent study makes a difference in students' learning journey.

2. Attendance Records: Your child’s absence will not count against their attendance record. Every absence (whether excused or unexcused) is recorded, appears on report cards, and remains in their student file.

3. School Funding: The school continues to receive the necessary funding to support our programs. Remember, the School District’s funding is based on daily attendance. If a student is absent and not participating in independent study, the school does not receive funding for those days.

Si su hijo/a tiene una ausencia planificada, solicite estudio independiente por las siguientes razones:

1. Aprendizaje Continuo: Su hijo/a puede mantenerse involucrado/a en su educación y evitar quedarse atrás al regresar a la escuela. Incluso por solo unos días, el estudio independiente marca una diferencia en el progreso de aprendizaje de los estudiantes.
2. Registros de Asistencia: La ausencia de su hijo/a no contará en su registro de asistencia. Cada ausencia (ya sea justificada o no) se registra, aparece en las boletas de calificaciones y permanece en su archivo estudiantil.

🌏 Ridwell recycling drive: We completed our drive and collected two large bags of plastic film, which were picked up over Thanksgiving break! Congratulations to the 4th grade who collected the most plastic film and has earned ice cream sandwiches!

🏠 Sign up for the Ridwell at-home recycling pickup: We have until December 15 to reach our goal of 10 families, which would provide plastic film pickup through the spring! This holiday season will be cozy for our lovely Teachers and Staff as the PTA hosts an "Apres Ski" themed appreciation luncheon for our staff on Monday, December 16, 2024, as a send-off to the holiday break. We are asking for the following from our generous and wonderful Bulldog community - sign up here for:
