Comet Connections

Kiker Families and Caregivers,

Happy New Year! I hope that you all enjoyed some time with friends and families and made some new memories that will be a part of you for years to come. It was so great to see our students return to school this morning eager to see their teachers and their friends. I visited several classrooms where students had the opportunity to share their Winter Break adventures. The smiles and hugs made the first day back a great one all around!

On behalf of the Comet students and staff, I would like to send a huge thank you to the parents who spent time over the break helping get our field in better condition. Because of their hard work, our students can enjoy a smoother, safer surface to run and play on. We are truly grateful for the time, energy, and care that went into this effort.

As we gear up for the second semester we are excited to celebrate student growth from their middle of year MAP testing and also set new goals. Our Character Strong monthly theme is perseverance and I’m excited to see the determination, kindness, and resilience our students and staff bring into 2026!

Happy New Year,

Ms. Abrams

🌟🌟Ms. Abby Shoppa🌟🌟

💙We are excited to announce our 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Abby Shoppa! Ms. Shoppa is a 3rd grade teacher and team leader at Kiker and someone who is truly admired by students, families, and colleagues alike. She brings professionalism, kindness, and a nurturing spirit to everything she does, while also holding high expectations for her students. These qualities make her richly deserving of this honor, and we are proud that Kiker is the place she calls her work family. 💙

💫Ms. Jessica Gold!💫

Each year, we have the opportunity to recognize a teacher who is new to the profession and making a positive impact on our campus. Ms. Jessica Gold truly exemplifies this honor through her flexibility, willingness to take on new challenges, and her kind, patient nature. Many of you may remember Ms. Gold from her time as a substitute at our school, and we are so fortunate that she chose to become a Comet as she begins her teaching career...a field we know she is truly meant for. 🌟
