Student Records - Q
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As your school secretary, I want to remind everyone how important it is to keep your contact information up to date throughout the school year.
If you have moved at any time during the school year, please provide the school with proof of your current residency so we can ensure our records remain accurate.
Parent phone numbers and emergency contacts can conveniently be updated in ParentConnect.
If you have forgotten your ParentConnect PIN number or password, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I am happy to assist you with getting your information updated so you can access your account.
Keeping your information current helps us communicate with you effectively and ensures we can reach the appropriate contacts when needed.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our school records accurate and up to date!
Sincerely,
School Secretary
Miss Jessica
PE - Must Read from Ms. Hinkle
PE shoes help keep our students safe as they run, jump, and change directions quickly. Please make sure your child has a pair of sturdy, athletic shoes to wear for both PE and recess. We do have a limited number of shoes available for students to borrow during PE class; however, these shoes must remain in the gym and cannot be taken home or worn during recess. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and ready to move!
Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Safe
As we kick off the school year, we kindly ask for your partnership in talking with your children about our core PBIS expectations: being kind to others, showing respect to both adults and peers, and keeping hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
The first few weeks of school bring a lot of big transitions—navigating new friendships, learning to work through frustration, and adjusting to sitting and focusing for longer periods. It can certainly feel overwhelming for young learners, and we fully understand that this adjustment period requires patience, guidance, and grace.
At the same time, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment is our top priority. While we support students through these daily learning moments, behaviors like physical aggression or hands-on actions cannot be tolerated.
We truly appreciate your support and collaboration at home as we help our students grow into kind, respectful, and safe members of our school community!
News from Nurse Kachulis
Hi, my name is Christina, and I am your school nurse! This is my 5th year at Mountain View and I'm excited to continue working with you and your students this year.
A few health reminders to start the school year:
Care Plans: Please send an updated care plan for any chronic conditions such as asthma, allergies, seizures, diabetes, or others so our staff can respond quickly if needed.
Medications: All medications, prescription and over the counter, must be brought in by an adult with the appropriate paperwork. Please don't send medication to school with your child.
Questions? Feel free to reach out any time with health concerns or if you need help with the appropriate paperwork.
Phone: 907-742-3901
When to Keep Your Student Home:
Fever: Students must stay home if they have a temperature of 100.0°F (37.8°C) or higher. They may return only after being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication (such as Tylenol or Motrin).
Vomiting or Diarrhea: Keep your child home until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours from the last episode and are able to hold down regular food and liquids.
General Illness: If your child feels too unwell to actively participate in class, has a persistent severe cough, or exhibits a new, unexplained rash, please let them rest at home.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy!
Start Times
Reminder: Late Start Mondays @ 9:00 am, students can enter the building @ 8:50 am. Our staff has professional development every Monday.
Arrival and Dismissal
To keep our students, staff, and families safe, we ask that you review and follow the guidelines below:
- Pedestrian Safety: Please use the designated crosswalk. Do not park across McPhee Street to walk your child to school.
- Car Rider Procedures: Use the designated car rider line in the parking lot for all drop-offs and pick-ups. Please stay in your vehicle, and our staff will assist your child.
Teachers will greet students each morning at 7:50 a.m. at the exterior doors identified on the map that are closest to their classrooms.
- Late Arrivals (After 8:00 AM): Any student arriving after 8:00 AM must enter through the front of the building.
- Tardy Bell: 8:05 AM (students entering after this time will need a tardy slip)
Be Prepared
Help Us Keep Students Prepared & Comfortable!
To ensure your child has a great day at school, please help us prepare them for outdoor weather:
Outdoor Gear: We go outside rain or shine, so please send students with appropriate gear (jackets, rain boots, winter hats, gloves, and scarves).
Backup Clothing: Accidents and rain happen! Because our supply of extra clothing is limited, we highly encourage keeping a spare set of clothes in your child's cubby or backpack.
Real time Bus Updates
If your student qualifies for transportation.
StopFinder is a parent app that provides real-time notifications about your child’s school bus, including bus stop locations, pick-up/drop-off times, and customizable GeoAlerts.
Volunteer Opportunities with ASD
We would love to have you in our school.
The 2026–2027 Volunteer Application is now open! All volunteers must reapply each school year. Previous approvals do not carry over.
New this year: Volunteers who interact with students in a school for more than four (4) hours per week are required to complete the Mandatory Reporter Training before volunteering.
Free and Reduced Lunch
Families can apply online using SchoolCafé or check if their child's school participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which offers free meals to all enrolled students without an application.
School Safety
Raptor Visitor Management System
To ensure the safety of our school community, all adult visitors must present a government-issued photo ID upon entry to scan into our Raptor system at the front office during school hours.
Standard Response Protocol
Regular emergency drills are a key part of keeping our schools safe. By practicing how to respond to different types of incidents—like earthquakes, evacuations, and lockdowns—students and staff build the skills and confidence they need to act quickly and stay safe. Ultimately, we practice so our entire school community is prepared and protected in any situation.
