Class Placement
Our class placement process is complete and families will be able to view their child's teacher assignment beginning August 17 through the Aspen Portal. Before class placement information becomes available, you will need to log into Aspen and complete the required annual permission forms.
Creating class lists is a thoughtful process that takes many hours of collaboration. Our placement teams include classroom teachers, special educators, multilingual educators, counselors, specialists, and school administrators. Our teams carefully consider each child's academic, social, and emotional needs, along with many other factors, in an effort to create balanced classroom communities where all students can learn and grow.
Thank you for trusting our team and the care that goes into this important process. We can't wait to welcome our students back for another wonderful year at Green Meadow!

Summer Reading
Today a reader, Tomorrow a leader!
Reading aloud and sharing stories helps children build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension skills, spark curiosity, develop empathy, and grow as creative problem-solvers.
We encourage families to make reading part of their daily routine and to visit the wonderful Maynard Public Library, where you'll find engaging books, fun summer programs, and resources for readers of all ages.
Students entering Grades 1, 2, and 3 should also spend at least 20 minutes reading independently every day to maintain and strengthen the skills they worked so hard to develop this year. Every book, every story, and every minute spent reading helps children grow into confident, lifelong learners!
Grade Level Supply Lists
We don't want to wish summer away, but we know Back-to-School sales are already in full swing! Below you will find the school supply lists for each grade level.
To help simplify things for families, Green Meadow will provide all basic classroom supplies, so there is no need to purchase items such as pencils, crayons, markers, paper, folders, binders, or other curriculum materials. Students will only need a few personal items to start the school year, which are listed on the grade-level supply lists below.
If your family needs assistance obtaining any of the requested items, please don't hesitate to reach out to Karen Lindquist at klindquist@maynard.k12.ma.us. We are happy to help and want to ensure every student has everything they need for a successful start to the school year.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures at Green Meadow
At this time, we anticipate that our arrival and dismissal procedures will remain the same as last year from August through December. Once we move into the new school building over December vacation, we will have new routines.
Here are a few highlights:
• We strongly encourage families to walk to school, carpool, or take advantage of the bus.
• Parking for families dropping students off or picking students up will continue to be very limited. Cars may not park along Tiger Drive or the entrance to Green Meadow FOR ANY REASON.
• Please do not park at Maynard Motors. They have been a wonderful neighbor and we would like to respect their space.
• Only School Buses and Vans will be allowed to enter the bus circle between the hours of 7:45 AM and 6:00 PM. With the temporary playground location now in the bus circle, cars may not drive into the bus circle for drop-off or pick-up.
• For the start of this year we will be offering a carline drop-off for arrival only for all students in grades PreK-3 starting at 8:15 AM. This drop off location will be on Tiger Drive, just past the staff parking lot. Tiger Drive will be ONE WAY for both Green Meadow and Fowler morning drop-off. Staff will accompany students to the building. Preschoolers can participate in the car line if they are able to unbuckle themselves or an older child is able to help them.
• We will not be offering a car line pick-up at dismissal until we move into the new building. We will be launching a dismissal app in August. Please see below for more informaiton.
• There will continue to be handicap parking area next to the bus circle
• Students in Grades 1-3 will line up for school INSIDE the building this year due to the fact that the construction fencing will not provide enough space for an outdoor line-up. Preschool and Kindergarten students will continue to go directly to their classroom doors as they have done in previous years. PreK and Kindergarten teachers will send out more information about which door to use. These routines are familiar to students who attended Green Meadow last year. Staff will supervise students inside the building.
• Students who are picked up after school as a walker will still be dismissed from the LIBRARY doors. We ask that families pick up and go. Due to the construction we do not have space for after-school play and our buses and vans are still in the process of dismissal until 3:00 PM.
Again this year, families are welcome to walk to the Fowler Playground for after-school play. We recognize that this is a cultural shift as we wait for the new school to be complete but this is a great option to continue to foster community and outdoor free play.

Pick Up Patrol - Arrival and Dismissal Communication App
We are excited to announce that Green Meadow will be using PickUp Patrol this school year to manage student dismissal plans. This easy-to-use system will streamline communication between home and school and eliminate the need to send in handwritten dismissal notes.
We will share additional information in August, including registration instructions and details on how to begin using the app before the start of the school year.
School Meals
Breakfast and Lunch
The Maynard Public Schools participates in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. Students will be able to get their first breakfast and lunch of the day at school without having to pay a fee or submit a household application.
Additional meals and/or drinks are available to purchase. Families can provide additional funds through My School Bucks.Parents may request restrictions around purchasing additional items by contacting the School.
Breakfast opens daily at 8:15 AM.
