How do you know a skeleton is sick?
CVHS Family Newsletter 2026-2027, Issue 13

He's coffin!
Especially this time of year, whether you're a skeleton or human being, stay home when you are sick! If you're not sure how sick is too sick for school, please see this resource from Nurse Jayne.
Next week, we're in a lead up to Halloween! On Thursday (10/29), join us from 5-7 PM for Trick-or-Treat street! On Friday, staff and students are encouraged to dress up with the following considerations:
- Accessibility: Avoid any costumes that make it difficult to get to class or sit in.
- Safety: Absolutely no weapons, depictions of violence (ex. gore, fake blood), or face coverings (including full paint or masks) are permitted.
- Respect: Costumes must respect the wearer and demonstrate respect for others.
And parents, since your student's teachers are starting the week with a full moon and ending it with Halloween, please consider partnering with our PTO by donating a treat or two for our faculty.
Hope to see you all at the last home football game of the season tonight. It is senior night all around: Football, Cheer, Marching Band, and Color Guard!
With Gratitude,
Alissa Jonesz
Principal, Castle View HS

Tickets on Sale: CVHS Presents, Mean Girls!
Tickets are on sale now for CV’s fall musical, Mean Girls.
Tuesday, November 10th - Saturday, November 14th
7:00 PM Each Night + a 1 PM Saturday Matinee
Mean Girls is the high-energy, "fetch" musical phenomenon that proves high school is a literal jungle. When Cady Heron moves from the African savanna to suburban Illinois, she quickly learns that the apex predators aren’t lions, they’re The Plastics. Led by the diamond-hard Regina George, this trio of queen bees rules North Shore High with a mix of glitter and gossip that will leave you breathless. With a powerhouse pop-rock score and a razor-sharp script by Tina Fey, the show brilliantly balances hilarious nostalgia with a modern heart. Grab your seat and prepare for a riotous, high-stakes lesson in popularity, friendship, and the consequences of the "Burn Book." Just remember: we wear pink, and you definitely can't sit with anyone else until you've seen this show!
This show is Rated PG-13 for adult language, teen drinking, and mature topics.

- More Relevant College Options: Eligible BigFuture School users who opted in to Connections™ can discover colleges that may be a good fit and are looking for students like them.
- More Ways to Access the App: Students who don’t have the app yet can access it by using their test registration number. The test registration number can be found in the student’s printed score report or in the K–12 reporting portal.

DCSD MLO
How will my school benefit?
The Douglas County School District Board of Education recently voted unanimously to place a $54 million Mill Levy Override (MLO) on the November ballot. If passed by voters, this is how the additional funds would be invested in our school.
Mill Levy Override Dollars
- Increase teacher and staff pay by providing salaries that are more competitive with neighboring school districts
- Increase and maintain school security support, including school resource officers
- Reduce student waitlists for Career and Technical Education programming, including the trades
- Restore student programming such as instrumental music in elementary schools
Visit funding.dcsdk12.org to learn more about the MLO or explore the Douglas County Bond Map to see how funds like these contribute to our neighborhood schools.

Connor Vigilante: Connor continues to SHOW OUT as a true Sabercat every day. He is engaged with his classes and peers, he is my go-to whenever I need an extra set of arms, and he is incredibly positive whenever he has a task to complete. In addition to him being an outstanding ambassador to CV, he is hoping to get into the US Military Academy West Point, where he would be an outstanding ambassador for the US. Connor is a great leader and we are lucky to have him at CV!

He's truly a team player, and willing to listen to other people's ideas. Nicely done, Luke!
