FROM THE PRINCIPAL FROM THE PRINCIPAL

JODEE DeROSE

Stallion Families,

We are officially wrapping up our third week of school! Classrooms are buzzing with energy, and students have begun taking the iReady assessment, which will help us tailor instruction to your child’s individual needs. Thank you for ensuring your student arrives ready to learn each day—consistent attendance plays a vital role in student growth.

Our staff held their first Friday late-start session last week for collaborative planning and data analysis. We greatly appreciate your support in making this important professional development time possible. As a reminder for Friday mornings, the first bell rings at 9:20 AM, and the cafeteria opens for breakfast at 9:10 AM. Because our team is in meetings, there is no staff supervision outside, so the playground remains closed. Students should only be on school grounds before or after school if accompanied by an adult.

We are also continuing to refine our dismissal procedures to make the process as safe and efficient as possible. Please remember to bring a valid ID whenever you enter the building to pick up your student.

Finally, Cherokee Trail Elementary is hiring Educational Assistants for duty coverage, classroom support, and our SSN program. It is a wonderful team and incredibly rewarding work, so if you are interested, please check the District careers page for our open positions. Thank you for a fantastic start to the school year, and I hope to see many of you at our Cold Stone Night this evening!

Warmly, Jodee DeRose - Principal

FROM MUSIC FROM MUSIC

Choir is Back at CTE!

Mr. Halley would like to invite you to join the choir at Cherokee Trail Elementary. The choir program here at CTE is booming and last year it had over 80 members! All choir students get a choir shirt and the opportunity to perform the national anthem before a Colorado Rockies game-they get to be on the field at Coors Field for this! We also have two big concerts in the CTE gym for friends and family in the winter and spring semester.

The choir is open for students in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade and meets in the morning from 7:40-8:15 Tuesdays and Thursdays. You only need to attend one day a week but you can attend both if possible. You can find the dates for the rehearsals and performances for our winter semester HERE.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Halley ghalley@dcsdk12.org and thank you for supporting the arts here at Cherokee Trail Elementary.
