Welcome Future Hawks of 2028
Welcome to Holmes Junior High! We are excited to officially welcome you and your student to the Holmes Hawk family for the 2025-2026 school year. The transition to middle school is an exciting milestone, and we are committed to making this journey a smooth and successful one for both students and families.
At Holmes, we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and inclusive school community where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff are here to guide and challenge students while ensuring they feel safe, valued, and engaged in their learning.
We know that starting middle school brings a mix of emotions—excitement, anticipation, and maybe even a few nerves. Please know that our entire team is here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to our office.
We can’t wait to meet you and your student and begin this journey together.

25-26 6th Grade Information Night
This one-time event brings all incoming 6th-grade families together to engage in the first experience of junior high school and meet the administrative team and some 6th-grade teachers.
Here, we will share with families:
the junior high schedule
academic programming
general expectations
Sports, activities, and clubs
Elective choices
The event runs from 6:00-7:30 and we have developed stations to ensure everyone gets to hear and ask questions in their groups.
Transition Process with Elementary Process
Course Placement
The junior high principals have met with each 5th grade teacher already to start conversations about the transition to middle school. The junior high principals are returning to the elementary schools at the end of February to gather feedback on student course scheduling. In addition, this month, elementary interventionists will collaborate with the junior high interventionists pertaining to intervention progress and preliminary placement decisions in regards to student intervention and support.
Final placements for advanced and interventions will be sent home in the end-of-the-year report cards.

In late April, the junior high principals will visit 5th graders to answer questions regarding classes and the junior high experience and spend some time at lunch and/or recess with them.
Experience Junior High: 5th Grade Visit Day!
As part of the transition to junior high, our 5th graders will have the exciting opportunity to visit their future school! During this visit, students will meet 6th-grade teachers, interact with current student leaders, and take a guided tour of the building to explore key areas like classrooms, the cafeteria, and lockers. They will also have a chance to ask questions, learn about what to expect in junior high, and confirm their course selections for next year. This visit is a great way to help students feel confident and excited about their next big step!
