West Belmar
WB In the Bear Cave

April 2026
A Message From Principal Abeal
Dear West Belmar Families,
The spring season is here! On April 1st, the PTA will be having its annual Egg Hunt where students will search for those colorful egg surprises. West Belmar School will be closed for Spring Break the week of April 3rd – April 10th. The school will reopen Monday, April 13th. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy spring break.
The first graders will be releasing the rainbow trout into the Manasquan Reservoir. The bear cubs have been learning about the life cycle of the rainbow trout from the egg stage to fry.
West Belmar School will be participating in Kids Heart Challenge! The entire school will be involved in a 45 minutes cardiovascular jump rope activity. The funds raised will be donated to the American Heart Association, which support life saving research and educational programs. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Ms. Wall at 732-556-2569.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you in the upcoming weeks!
Most sincerely,
Anthony

Attendance Matters at the WB!
Why Every Day Matters
Good attendance lays the foundation for a child’s academic success. When students attend school regularly, they keep up with class lessons, build confidence, and develop strong relationships with teachers and peers. Even just two absences per month (about 10% of the school year) can create gaps in learning and make it harder to catch up. We encourage families to make every effort to have students present and on time, because every day really does add up. We need our "Bear Cubs in the Cave"!

WTPS Appoints Dr. David Bleakley as New Superintendent of Schools
As you are aware, Dr. Handerhan announced back in the fall that she will be retiring at the end of this school year. Since then, the Wall Township Board of Education has been actively engaged in the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. At last night’s Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education appointed Dr. David Bleakley as the next WTPS Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Bleakley brings with him over 20 years of educational experience, and the Board of Education is thrilled to welcome him to the District.
