We have a new online option. The AHS Flex Path is available for students who are motivated to work on their own but need to have the flexibility to work at home.

Parking Passes

Parking Passes will be $10. The fee will need to be paid at the bookstore, cash or check made payable to: APS or Alamogordo Public Schools. Forms are available for pick up at the front desk. Documentation needed is proof of registration, insurance and driver's license (not a permit). The bookstore will be ready to start accepting paperwork and payment on Monday, July 21st.

Student ID's

Student ID's will be given during the first days of school. Students will sign them out during their 2nd hour class. Students are expected to have their ID on them all times at school. ID's are needed to enter Tiger Drive as well as to enter through the front.

Schedules -- Schedules will be viewable Thursday July 17th. Please email your grade level counselor if you have questions or to make an appointment to see them. There are different trainings going on this time of year and walk-ins are not always possible.

Permanent passes. If you have a child taking dual credit courses and has a class blanked out, or a senior without a full schedule, you may come in and get your permanent pass once schedules are available. A parent will need to accompany their student because the permanent pass agreement needs to be notarized at that time so please bring a valid ID. This only gives students the ability to leave during designated times on the pass, not to check themselves out. We will have someone available to notarize the form at Open House. These will be available for students to pick up from the office starting Monday, August 11th.

18+ Form -- If you would like your adult child who is 18 years old to be able to sign themselves out, we have a form for that as well. You can pick one up and have it notarized at Open House as well. Even though a student may be 18, they cannot sign themselves out with out this form completed.

Contact Information

Please be sure you have current contact information in PowerSchool such as updated phone numbers and pick up list. This way we can be sure to communicate with you in the best way. We are happy to help you with any changes you may need to make. Please be sure to check who you have recorded in PowerSchool to be able to pick up your child. We cannot release students to people who are not on your pick up list. We want to make this process as painless as possible for you.

Attendance

Attendance is a huge factor when it comes to students success in school. Students maintaining over a 10% truancy rate will not be able to participate in selected extra activities at school such as Homecoming and Prom. Please note, Parents have 48 hours to excuse an absence. Attendance cannot be changed after that timeframe.

Chromebooks -- Chromebooks will start to be distributed on Monday the 11th and Tuesday the 12th. We will have labels for the students to add their name to their chromebook as well as their charger.

Bell Schedule

This year will see some changes in our schedule. Our early out Friday will be at 2:30 instead of 3:00. We want our students to have adequate time for meaningful instruction each day, so Advisory will now be on Monday's. This class important for planning for the future as well as keeping up with grades and other activities that happen during this time.

If you are interested in an alternate platform for your child, please click on the link below to apply to the AHS Flex Path. To be considered, the form needs to be filled out by July 25th. We will notify you by August 1st if you have been accepted into the program. Orientation will be held August 6th, 5:30. Orientation and classes will be at the Alamogordo Public Schools complex, building C. School will start on August 7th.
