- READ TO/WITH them every single day!
- From babies on....read, read, read!!!
- This increases their vocabulary base at a time when students brains are growing the fastest!
- Also, talking to them using and explaining adult words is very beneficial.
- PRACTICE MATH FACTS (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
- Practice them daily!
- These foundational skills need to become immediate and easy to recall!
- Have your student count to/with you.
- Count anything, make up problems, flashcards, etc, measure, challenge and practice some more.
- PLEASE encourage children to work independently!
- They should be able to tie their own shoes, get dressed, clean up after themselves and so on!
- These are life skills they must learn.
- Let them try and practice, practice, practice by doing it themselves as well as helping with chores.
- Students need to learn that if they are persistent when frustrated they will be successful with practice.
- PLEASE encourage your student to engage and participate in school!
- Be on time and stay all day!
- Reinforce following school behavior academic, and attendance expectations.
- This is the student(s) job please encourage doing it well.
