Principal Points

Dear Grown-ups,

What a wonderful time of year with joy and happiness abound. Whatever and wherever you celebrate I hope it is filled with joy, love and some much-needed rest with family!

For those of you taking extended family trips enjoy the long break but please keep in mind that Christmas break starts on Friday, December 19th and school resumes Tuesday, January 6th. We want to ensure you do not receive any unexcused absences. Thank you for your help with this. We love seeing your child on time and every day! Attendance is one of the most important factors for student success.

Students absent from school for 10 or more consecutive school days will be unenrolled from school!

MAP testing assessment for achievement in both math and reading will start December 1st running through January 30th! Please be sure that students are getting enough sleep, eating breakfast, and attending school regularly. Please talk to and encourage your child to take the assessment seriously and put forth their best effort as well as with their school assignments.

Merry Christmas to you All!

We need your help!

  • READ TO/WITH them every single day!
  1. From babies on....read, read, read!!!
  2. This increases their vocabulary base at a time when students brains are growing the fastest!
  3. Also, talking to them using and explaining adult words is very beneficial.

  • PRACTICE MATH FACTS (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  1. Practice them daily!
  2. These foundational skills need to become immediate and easy to recall!
  3. Have your student count to/with you.
  4. Count anything, make up problems, flashcards, etc, measure, challenge and practice some more.

  • PLEASE encourage children to work independently!
  1. They should be able to tie their own shoes, get dressed, clean up after themselves and so on!
  2. These are life skills they must learn.
  3. Let them try and practice, practice, practice by doing it themselves as well as helping with chores.
  4. Students need to learn that if they are persistent when frustrated they will be successful with practice.

  • PLEASE encourage your student to engage and participate in school!
  1. Be on time and stay all day!
  2. Reinforce following school behavior academic, and attendance expectations.
  3. This is the student(s) job please encourage doing it well.
