Week 27
Dear MUMS community,
This week MUMS was filled with excitement and pride as we came together for our annual talent show on Wednesday evening. A heartfelt thank you goes to the 8th grade trip fundraising committee and the Town Hall Theatre for making this event possible. Our performing students displayed courage, care, and a willingness to take risks. I am incredibly proud of both our performers and our principled and supportive student audience.
Today marks the last day of Quarter Three, and I want to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of our staff and students as they finish the quarter strong. As we look ahead to the final stretch of the 25-26 school year, let’s celebrate all we have accomplished and look forward to a successful and engaging last quarter together.
Next week, we will begin administering the VTCAP state assessments in Math and ELA. While we understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable and we have systems in place for make up assessments, it is best for students to be present and on time for these important assessments. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child is at school and ready to do their best.
Thank you again for your continued support and collaboration, and have a great weekend.
Best,
Michaela Wisell ~ Principal

Greetings MUMS Caregivers!
What an amazing day our 6th graders had last week at the “ACSD Youth Summit”, 2026. This is an annual summit at Middlebury College just for MUMS 6th graders, organized by the 6th grade team of teachers. This years’ theme was “Better Data, Better Decisions, Bigger Impact”. The Summit was kicked off by Middlebury College professor and international activist Bill McKibben who spoke about climate change data and his organization 350.org. Then, students were able to choose from a variety of workshop sessions, including beekeeping, energy experiments, Model UN, mock trials, Lake Champlain conservation, or workshops with high school groups like Student Council and SCOHR. Mid-day we had an incredible presentation from Lucy Meyer, a gold medalist Special Olympian and advocate for people with disabilities. We witnessed the unveiling of her portrait by artist Robert Shetterly for “Americans Who Tell the Truth”. It was an incredible day of hands-on exploration, learning and sharing for our 6th graders, who said,
“My favorite part was working in groups and convincing diplomats from other countries to go along with my ideas about how to reduce plastic consumption in the Model UN workshop!"
"Having lunch with Lucy Meyer felt really special because she was really honest about how to include everyone and how it makes her feel.”
"I was excited to put out a fire with the fire department!"
MUMS Talent Show Fundraiser A Success
Wednesday night's talent show sold out! Thank you to everyone that bought tickets to help support our 8th grade class trip to Boston in May. For anyone that didn't have a chance to watch the show you can do it here (The title says 4/2 but is the correct link). If you enjoyed watching the show please consider making a donation to our fundraiser here.
Student Absences, Dismissals + Bus Notes
If your student will be absent from school, needs an early dismissal, or will take a different bus, please follow these directions:
- Absence / early dismissal: Call 802-382-1297, the MUMS attendance line, before 8:30am (helpful tip: add this number to your phone now as "MUMS attendance line")
- Early dismissal + bus notes: Students must deliver a caregiver's note to the front office when arriving at school (before TA).
- If taking a bus other than their regular bus: Students must bring a caregiver's note and have it signed by a MUMS Administrative Assistant in the front office to be valid.
Shoreham/Cornwall bus caveats
Please use the "button" above to preview our ACSD bus routes.
Also please note a few caveats that impact students who ride Cornwall or Shoreham buses home.
Cornwall and Shoreham buses do not come to MUMS at pick-up time. Students who ride those buses must take a shuttle from MUMS to MUHS to meet their bus.
Cornwall students use the Bridport bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Cornwall bus at the High school to ride home.
Shoreham students use the Weybridge bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Shoreham bus at the High school to ride home.
