Our Learning Community...
As we head into Winter Break, we want to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful, restful, and joy-filled holiday season. This time of year brings a special spirit, one that invites us to slow down, connect with those we care about, and celebrate the meaningful traditions that make each family unique.
Whether your family observes Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the New Year, or other cherished celebrations, we hope your days are filled with warmth, laughter, and togetherness.
We also wish you good health throughout the break. A few simple habits can go a long way: get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, enjoy outdoor play or movement when possible, and wash hands frequently... especially during cold and flu season.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready for the new year on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Wishing you peace, joy, and good health this winter season.
Congratulations...

PTA Spotlight...
The Jones PTA plays a crucial role in fostering strong family engagement at Jones Elementary. By organizing activities that bring families, students, and staff together, the PTA helps grow a stronger sense of belonging within our school community. These events not only strengthen relationships but also empower families to be active participants in their children's education, enhancing student success and building a supportive, collaborative school environment. Thank you for the leadership of our PTA Executive Board members, the volunteers that plan and execute PTA events, and all of you who participate! Check out what our PTA is up to...

Holidays & Traditions
Did you know that just 15 minutes of reading each day can make a world of difference in your child’s learning journey? Whether you are reading to your child, reading together, or listening to them read aloud, it all counts and it all matters!
Reading at home builds more than just literacy skills. It strengthens vocabulary, improves comprehension, and develops a lifelong love of learning. In fact, children who are read to daily are exposed to 1.4 million more words by the time they start school than children who are not. That kind of language exposure lays a strong foundation for both academic success and confident communication.
Just as importantly, books also help children grow socially by allowing them to step into other people’s experiences, see the world from different perspectives and practice empathy and kindness. Stories have the power to spark cultural awareness, build understanding and nurture the skills that help our students become not only successful learners, but also compassionate human beings.
Here are a few ways to make reading a special part of your routine:
-
Choose a cozy time and space to read together
-
Let your child pick the book (even if it’s the same one again!)
-
Ask questions about the story to boost comprehension
-
Model a love for reading by enjoying your own book nearby
The best part, your family has access to an endless amount of books through the internet and the Public Library. Looking for something new to read? Check out the links below for inspiration...

Conversations that Matter: Understanding and Discussing Antisemitism with Young People
In recent years, antisemitism has surged in the U.S and around the world. Last weekend, there was a tragic mass shooting at a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia that claimed many lives and reminds us of the very real and devastating impact of antisemitic hatred manifesting in communities. Young people are increasingly experiencing, witnessing, and in some cases, perpetrating antisemitism. As caring, inclusive communities we need to do more to educate all students about and address antisemitism. The resource attached below is intended to help parents, families and other trusted adults in young people’s lives.
The guide includes the following topics:
How does antisemitism manifest in schools and communities?
What does the data say: antisemitism in schools, communities and online.
The psychological impact of antisemitism on young people (emotional, physical, cognitive, behavioral and academic indicators).
Strategies for parents and trusted adults to help young people cope.
Empowering young people by engaging them in allyship, advocacy and activism.
This resource was created in collaboration by ADL and the Association of Jewish Psychologists.
