A Note from Mrs. Mathe
Happy New Year! I was so excited this week to welcome back our Huksies and hear all about their amazing, relaxing, and adventurous winter breaks. I may have even asked a few students to pack me in their suitcase next time!
We jumped right back into the swing of things as we kicked off our spring semester. Today, we celebrated students who demonstrated great attendance during the second nine weeks at our AttenDANCE! It was a fantastic time, and of course, I couldn’t resist breaking out my favorite move—the Chicken Dance!
If your child wasn’t able to attend this time, no worries—attendance goals start fresh now. Students with one or fewer absences and two or fewer tardies during the third grading period will earn an invitation to our next AttenDANCE in March. If mornings are a little tough at your house, feel free to remind your child about the dance they won’t want to miss!
We’re looking forward to a great semester ahead!

Student Spotlight
We are excited to introduce a new section in The Hines Herald called Student Spotlight! This feature will celebrate the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school. In this section, we will highlight students who have gone above and beyond—whether it’s reaching a personal goal, helping others, or making a difference in the community. We can’t wait to share these inspiring stories and honor the incredible ways our students shine!
Eva Abramyan
We are thrilled to celebrate Eva Abramyan for her outstanding performance at the Annual Houston Holiday Hoedown Championship, held at the University of Houston on December 13–14. Eva wrapped up the 2025 season with an incredible showing, earning two 1st-place finishes in the 1m Springboard (Double Gold) and a 4th-place finish in the 3m Springboard.
Thanks to her exceptional focus and self-discipline, Eva was also honored with the Highest Individual High Point Award for her age group. Her impressive individual achievements helped lead her team to a 2nd-place overall finish against top competitors from across the state. Way to go, Eva! We are so proud of you and your hard work!
