Dec. Staff and Community
Business, Marketing, & Finance
Last month, we highlighted what CTE is - Career and Technical Education (CTE) is the part of high school that focuses on your student's future career. Instead of just reading about a job, they practice the job through hands-on learning.
This program helps them:
Explore Careers: See if fields like engineering, healthcare, or business truly fit them.
Build Skills: Learn skills that employers actually need today.
Save Money: Enroll in courses that count toward high school graduation and let them earn college credit for free (Concurrent Enrollment).
CTE gives your student a clear plan and valuable skills for life after high school.
So what is a CTE Pathway?
You've heard the term "CTE Pathway"—but what does it actually mean for your student? Simply put, a Pathway is a planned route through high school that leads directly to a successful future!
What a Pathway Does:
It's a Map: A CTE Career Pathway is a sequence of courses that acts as an educational roadmap. It connects your student's classes from high school to a college certificate, a degree, and/or a career.
- It Guides Interests: It ensures your student is taking courses within their area of interest.
- It Leads to a Goal: The map guides students to their chosen career destination , leading to a recognized credential.
How Pathways Save You Time and Money:
Free College Credit: Many CTE Pathways offer concurrent enrollment credit. This means your student is earning college credit while still in high school!
- Saves Time and Money: Participating in a Pathway will save students time and money toward training and/or a college degree.
- High-Value Skills: Students acquire technical skills training through hands-on learning , which prepares them for postsecondary education and high-demand jobs.
