From Mrs. Jones

πŸŽ‰ Happy New Year! πŸŽ‰
I love new beginnings and fresh starts, and I am so excited to welcome our students back for the second half of the school year. I’ve truly missed seeing their precious faces, and I know we are going to have a great semester ahead. As we begin, please review the following reminders to help ensure a successful start to 2026.

⏰ Attendance & Tardies
Please be sure to send a written excuse with your student if he or she is tardy or absent. Please note that three unexcused tardies will result in a referral to In-School Suspension (SAP).

πŸ“΅ Cell Phone Policy (Yondr Pouches)
All cell phones must be locked in Yondr pouches upon arrival to campus each morning. This helps us maintain a focused, safe, and distraction-free learning environment for all students.

πŸ‘• Dress Code Reminders
We ask for your help in reviewing the district dress code policy, which is available on the school's website. https://www.dcsedu.com/o/dms Below are the most common violations observed last semester:

  • ❌ Facial piercings are not allowed. Nose rings must be removed or fully covered.

  • πŸ‘– Spandex pants must be worn with a shirt long enough to provide coverage in both the front and back.

  • πŸ‘” Boys’ pants must be worn at the waist.
After three dress code violations, students will be assigned SAP.

πŸ“˜ 7th Grade Civics Program
Our 7th grade students will participate this semester in a civics program titled The American Character. Families are encouraged to visit the program’s website to learn more about this exciting opportunity. https://libertylearning.org/american-characters-program-grades-6-8/

πŸ“… Important Dates & Updates

  • πŸ“„ Report cards will be sent home Thursday.

  • No school on Monday, January 19, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

  • πŸ“ Students will take the ACAP Summative Practice Assessment on January 28, 29, and 30. This practice assessment will provide valuable data as we prepare for the official ACAP administration in April.

  • πŸ”₯ Students who met their i-Ready growth goals in December will be rewarded with a S’more Party later this month.

*Continue to scroll for the January menus and baseball/softball schedules.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can make this semester a successful one for all students!
