Dear CMS Families and Staff,
We will continue to use a weapon detection system. These advanced systems, known as Opengate, will be used to screen students as they enter the building each school day.
Much like the Evolv systems used in our high schools, students will be expected to have their laptops and water bottles removed from their book bags as they walk through the system. Please watch this video produced by Opengate in conjunction with another school district which demonstrates how the system works. Many of you may have experienced something like it as you enter a sporting event or concert. The goal of these new systems is to promote safety while ensuring the entry process remains as smooth and efficient as possible.
In addition to daily student screenings, we will also be able to use the Opengate system at school events such as athletic games, extracurricular activities, and other events on campus.
If any student has any unique circumstances that we need to be aware of as we roll out these systems, please contact our school administration.
We ask for your patience as there may be some minor delays as we all get used to the new procedures. We truly appreciate your support during this transition as we maintain our ongoing commitment to keeping students and staff members safe.
