Parent Meeting
5th Grade Camp is coming up and these kids are excited! We will have a parent information meeting on Thursday, September 10 at 6 pm in the Reeves cafeteria. We hope everyone can make it so that questions can be answered, details shared, and you can hear all about the fun activities that will make this trip a memorable experience for your child. We will be sending more information soon, but we figured we’d get a few basics out to you right now.
What and When?
We cannot wait to take these wonderful 5th graders on a remarkable Outdoor Education adventure and we are even more excited to watch them experience it! The administrators at Reeves and PISD have made a thorough search for the highest quality outdoor education program, and they have selected the program at Sky Ranch.
Sky Ranch is located near Van, TX, an hour and a half east from Dallas. It has been in operation for over 60 years and has been a long-trusted name in quality programming for children. The curriculum and staff are outstanding. This program is to serve as an extension of the classroom, delivering educational content in alignment with the Texas Standards, especially science. You can feel secure about your child's participation in hands-on activities which will develop their awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the outdoor environment. SKY RANCH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Students will leave for Sky Ranch the morning of Wednesday, October 28 and return to Reeves mid afternoon Friday, October 30. Get ready for the excitement from your child!

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILD
We want to hear from more of you! At Meet the Teacher on August 7, there was a QR code for you to scan and fill out the 5th Grade - Meet the Student Form about your child. If you already filled it out, thank you! If you have not yet completed it, will you please take a couple minutes to fill it out? It will just take a couple minutes and will help us know more about your child.
Thank you!!

MAP TESTING
Each year, all Reeves students in 2nd - through 5th grade take the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress – or MAP – assessments in the fall, winter and spring. MAP is a national test that helps us see how each student learns, as we know every student learns in his or her own way.
Within students will be completing the Math, Science, and Reading MAP tests. Please note this is not like the STAAR test. Students will be taking their test beginning at about 9:45 in their homeroom, can break for lunch and recess and continue in the afternoon or the next day if needed. Please see the schedule in the Important Dates section below.
