Principal's Weekly Update
April 11th, 2025
A Message from Ms. Domenica DeLuca, Director of Admissions and Development
Dear Families,
Yesterday, you received an email regarding our St. Mary's Annual Fund. This Fund is what enables our commitment to academic excellence, spiritual formation, and extracurricular experiences to remain strong and to continue to grow. Our school continues to thrive as a place where students grow not only in knowledge, but also in faith, character, and compassion.
We are grateful for your support over the past 125 years of education here at St. Mary's. I invite you take a few minutes to read through our Annual Appeal newsletter below and watch the student and teacher testimonies in the video. Your gift has a direct and significant impact on the lives of our students.
As we enter into Holy Week, I invite you consider making a gift, of any size, to our Annual Fund. You are in our prayers and remain an essential part of our school family. I wish you a blessed and prayerful Holy Week.

French Student Announcements
This week, our middle school French students did the morning announcements! They shared the weather for the day in both English and in French. We were so impressed by their pronunciation and vocabulary!
SHAPE America Conference
Mr. Jerry Holmes, our PreK-8 Physical Education teacher, attended the National SHAPE America Conference and Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, last week to learn more about Physical Education pedagogy and practices. He attended presentations and workshops with other Physical Education teachers from across the country. Thank you, Mr. Holmes, for caring for and educating our students! Save the date for our Field Day on Monday, June 2nd, onsite at Larz Anderson Park for students in Grades PreK-8. There will be details coming soon for chaperones and volunteers.
Carnegie Hall Performance
Ms. Emily Tigges, our PreK-8 Drama teacher and PreK-2 Music teacher, recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City! Ms. Tigges traveled with the St. John's University and College of St. Benedict combined choirs to sing a Baroque set, including Vivaldi's Magnificat, Handel's Two Coronation Anthems, and Bach's Sanctus. St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota is where Ms. Tigges is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Liturgical Music. The choir had two days full of rehearsals before performing with the New England Symphonic Ensemble last weekend. We are so glad to have such a talented artist as part of our community. Thank you, Ms. Tigges, for educating our students in music and drama!
Middle School Bake Sale
St. Mary's Red Sox Night
Monday night was a special night for our St. Mary’s community at Fenway Park! Three of our St. Mary’s students, Cristina, Mia, and Kornelia, performed the national anthem in the Voices Boston Children’s Choir! Our very own Bert Almeida was also honored on the field for all that he does to support our school! It was so nice to see all of the St. Mary’s students and families that came out to support.
Faculty and Staff Easter Egg Hunt
Our faculty and staff had an early Easter celebration this week with an egg hunt and a breakfast all together before the school day! It was a wonderful way to spend time together.
Stations of the Cross
On Friday afternoon, students from Grades K2 through 8 participated in Stations of the Cross with Father David, facilitated by our middle school students. Mr. Lynch accompanied on the organ as candle bearers and one crucifix bearer followed Father David to each station around the Church. Student lectors commented on each station from the lectern, and students in the pews participated by praying the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be after each station. All statues and crucifixes were reverently covered during this Passiontide with purple cloths in anticipation of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful way to end this last full week of school before Holy Week.
