Principal's Update
Dear CCES Families,
Thank you to all of our families who attended Curriculum Night this week! We truly appreciate your partnership and the time you took to learn more about your child's classroom, curriculum, and the exciting learning experiences planned for this school year.
If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child's teacher to request a copy of the presentation and any additional information or notes that were shared during the event.
We were also excited to have our fabulous PTO join us at Curriculum Nights to introduce our new fundraiser for the year, The Colt's Campaign. This initiative will support important programs and opportunities for our students, and we look forward to sharing more details with our school community. Be on the lookout for additional information coming later this month!
Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community.
Working Together,
Laura Butler

π Meet Your School Social Worker! π
Hello CCES Families!
My name is Andrea Joynes, MSW, and I am excited to be your School Social Worker at Crabapple Crossing Elementary!
Think of me as a school and community connection for your family. My role is to help students feel successful, supported, and connected both in and out of the classroom. Whether your family needs assistance with attendance concerns, food resources, housing support, school supplies, mental health services, or other community resources, I am here to help.
I love partnering with families to ensure every student has what they need to learn, grow, and thrive throughout the school year.
π Coming Soon!
I am excited to launch my Lunch Buddy Groups, where students will have the opportunity to build friendships, practice social skills, and have fun together during lunch. More information about these groups will be shared in September!
Please don't hesitate to reach out if I can support your family in any way. I look forward to getting to know you and working together for a fantastic school year!

Dear Parents of Future Scientists and Engineers,
It is time for us to begin the search for the 2026-2027 Science Olympiad Team! We are excited to invite all interested third, fourth, and fifth-grade students to participate in our upcoming tryout process.
To ensure complete clarity and transparency regarding our selection procedures, as well as the demands and expectations required of Science Olympiad team members throughout the school year, we are holding a mandatory parent meeting via TEAMS on Thursday, August 20th.
Mandatory Parent TEAMS Meeting Details:
Β· Date & Time: Thursday, August 20th at 3:30 PM

A parent or guardian must attend the live meeting or watch the session recording. Students will not be permitted to try out unless a parent has attended the meeting or reviewed the recording. If you are unable to attend live, the meeting recording will be shared via email upon request. To receive the recording, email Mrs. Willhite at willhitec@fultonschools.org.

Tryout Timeline & Requirements: Following the parent meeting, tryouts will take place on Thursday, August 27th (with a makeup date on Tuesday, September 1st). The tryout process will include an in-person Pentathlon Exam and Mystery Architecture Build. The students will then complete a take-home build, take-home test, and student essay, which will all be due on Tuesday, September 8th. No late work will be accepted, and students must attend tryouts to receive the take-home test and build materials.
We look forward to meeting with you to discuss the upcoming year and answer any questions you may have about the program. Thank you for supporting your childβs interest in science!
