Sharing from a neighboring Superintendent...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As educators and caregivers, we understand that supporting children with significant behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs can at times feel overwhelming and emotionally complex. Some families may experience situations involving aggression, unsafe behaviors, or emotional outbursts that can impact the entire household. These experiences are often difficult to discuss openly, and families can sometimes feel isolated while navigating them.
We are sharing a sensitive article entitled “The Quiet Shame of Fearing Your Own Child" because it thoughtfully explores the realities some parents face when caring for children whose violent or aggressive behaviors create safety concerns within the home. While the topic is difficult, the article emphasizes understanding, compassion, support, and the importance of seeking help when families are struggling.
We encourage you to read this article with the understanding that its purpose is not to label or judge children or families, but rather to foster awareness, empathy, and conversation around the challenges that some caregivers experience. For many families, simply knowing they are not alone can be meaningful and reassuring.
Please be aware that portions of the article may be emotionally difficult to read. We encourage parents to review it privately and reach out for support if needed.
As always, our school community remains committed to partnering with families to support students socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. If you have concerns regarding your child’s behaviors or need assistance accessing resources and supports, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued partnership, compassion, and dedication to your children.

The Sussex County Board of Commissioners, the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Services, and the Sussex County Veterans Committee celebrates its veterans each year at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in November. This is a significant event that honors the sacrifices and contributions of our military veterans.

These pins will be given to all veterans at this event. Sussex County students in Grades 6, 7 and 8

Sussex County, while gaining an understanding and knowledge of what the veterans have contributed and sacrificed. Entries will also be accepted from students who are home schooled.
