Bush Elementary Teacher Publishes Children's Book
As she navigated a challenging period in her life, Charise Thomason, a kindergarten teacher at Bush Elementary, made a poignant discovery – there were no children’s books to help her own kids cope with divorce. So she wrote one.
Little Wings, Big Changes helps children see the sunny side of a cloudy situation. Thomason uses three young owls to take its young readers through the healing process.
“Each of the bird siblings is based on my children,” Thomason said. “Our favorite song is Little Birds by Bob Marley, that’s why I made them birds.”
Focusing on the positive, the book helps its young readers see that “there is always a rainbow after a rainstorm.”

Transportation’s Support is UnWAVEring
How does a school district move 100 buses out of one parking lot in under 10 minutes?
With a systematic, fool-proof exit strategy. Row by row, like a well-oiled machine, these bus drivers know exactly when to pull out of their parking spot to join the convoy.
"We have a lot of buses," Transportation Director Jessie Murphy said. "We devised a plan to get them all off the lot in a timely manner for afternoon dismissal."
