Personal Device Policy Feedback

Dear Atholton Community,

We're a little more than a month into the revised personal device policy and you have hopefully seen some positive changes in your child. I know I was copied on some appreciative emails to the Superintendent and the Board of Education, but if you want to formally share your feedback, be sure to take the HCPSS Survey:

! Share Your Feedback !
HCPSS students, staff, parents/guardians and family members are encouraged to provide input on implementation, and any impact they may have seen as a result. Please complete a brief online survey. The survey will close on Wednesday, April 16.

Sincerely,

Nick Novak

Principal

Testing Season is Coming

April and May will be filled with state-mandated testing and there's a good chance that your student will be impacted by one or more of the tests, especially of they are a freshman or sophomore. Here's a quick summary of what to expect, but check in with your child's teacher for more information:

  • Algebra 1: Students will test during their Algebra class period May 12th-May 15th.
  • Algebra 2: Students will test during their Algebra 2 class period May 12th-May 15th (seniors taking Algebra 2 will test April 22nd and 23rd).
  • Biology: The MISA assessment will be administered during students' Biology classes on May 19th, 20th, 22nd, and 23rd. The assesment will count for 20% of a student's final course grade.
  • English 10: Students will test during 4th period on April 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th. The assessment is not administered during class time because the test sessions are longer than 50 minutes.
  • Government: The MCAP government exam will be administered to students in their government classes on May 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th. Like Biology, the assessment will count for 20% of a student's final grade in government.

Note- Students with testing accommodations may have different testing schedules than what it posted above. Please check with your child's case manager, teacher, and/or counselor if you have questions. Testing rosters are still being developed so it's best to ask the question about a week before the testing begins.
