REMINDER…. Vaccine Clinic at Brunswick Middle School
In collaboration with the Medina County Health Department, we will be hosting a vaccination clinic at Brunswick Middle School on Friday, August 9th, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. This clinic will provide vaccines for students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade in preparation for next school year. In order to streamline the process, please pre-register by calling 330-723-9688 and select option 2. Click HERE for more information.

BACKPACKS:

• Students may not carry backpacks during the school day.
• Lockers can be used now, so carrying backpacks is no longer necessary.
• If there is a documented medical concern or need, special considerations will be made.
• We will support students, and help them navigate their day and locker use.

CELL PHONES:

• Students can carry cell phones, but if students are actively using cell phones, they will be taken away.
• Cell phones can also be locked in lockers.
• Cell phones cannot go into the restroom at any time.
• If students need to use their cell phones to contact a parent during the day, they can come to the office to do so--or use an office phone.
• If cell phone use is habitual, students will be asked to leave their cell phones in the office for the day--or to leave cell phones at home.
• Administration will consistently communicate concerns with families.

WATER BOTTLES:

• Students are encouraged to stay hydrated and carry a water bottle.
• The water bottle must have a screw top--not a squirt top.
• Only water should be carried in water bottles, and no soda, coffee, energy drinks, etc. should be carried. These drinks can make quite a mess if spilled.

WIRELESS EAR PHONES:

• Students may not use wireless earphones (like Air Pods) during the school day.
• Students often lose wireless earphones--they are very expensive, and difficult to track down.
• Communication on wireless earphones is difficult to monitor. This can be a safety concern, and a distraction in the classroom.
• If students are using wireless earphones, they will be taken and given back at the end of the day.
• If there is another occurrence, parents will be asked to pick up the wireless earphones when convenient.
• Cheaper "wired" headphones will work just fine at BMS!

ALL OTHER STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER THE BUILDING AT 7:40--the doors will open at 7:40am. Please do not drop students off prior to 7:40, as the doors will be locked, and students will not be supervised outside. Thank you!

School breakfasts and lunches are no longer free of charge. FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH forms are available online or will be available at schedule pick up days. Please reach out with questions--thank you!

PLEASE JOIN US ON THE FOLLOWING DATES/TIMES TO PICK UP YOUR SCHEDULE, WALK THE BUILDING, AND GATHER INFORMATION FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR!

Parents please stay with your student and do a "walk about" of the building with them--please do not drop students off and leave. THANK YOU! No grade level schedule will be available prior to the grade level's scheduled day.

Schedules will go live in Progressbook on 8/16--so you can log in and view them in Progressbook if you are unable to attend schedule pick up day.

You do not have to arrive at the exact start time--this will help us to avoid a bottleneck at the start of each session.

Please follow this pattern so our morning and afternoon traffic flows smoothly, cars stay off Pearl and 303, and most importantly, our kids stay safe! THANK YOU!

All cars will enter and exit from Manhattan. Please do not use Pearl Rd to enter or exit--this cuts off other parents who have waited in the correct line up.

BMS WILL OPEN AT 7:00 FOR EARLY BIRDS WHO HAVE CLASS AT 7:20. DOORS WILL THEN BE LOCKED--for safety and security reasons.

AT 7:40, DOORS WILL OPEN AGAIN FOR ALL OTHER STUDENTS. Please do not drop students off before 7:40, as the doors will be locked. Students will not be supervised outside prior to 7:40, Thank you!

Students may enter the building at 7:40. If you wait until 8:00 to drop students off, there may be a a line up, causing students to be tardy. We do keep an eye on the traffic line, but please be mindful of this. Thank you!

Please always pull forward to the first cone--even if the weather is bad. This allows more cars in the lot and prevents a back up on Pearl and Manhattan. This applies to Early Birds too!

Kids should be ready to exit the car safely and quickly. Again, this helps to alleviate the traffic back up.
