Better Together: Pinney Has Heart Announcement
We are thrilled to announce the sixth annual Pinney Has Heart event, scheduled for February 13, 2025! Please remember that we do not hold traditional Valentine’s Day parties. Instead, our focus is on providing students with opportunities and activities to give back to our community and school, while also taking care of their own well-being. There will be no exchanging of traditional valentines at school. Our learning community is dedicated to prioritizing health while supporting others. Throughout the day, students will engage in physical activities, learn about healthy eating and sleep habits, create fleece dog toys, and much more!
We are collecting the following items to donate to the shelters:
- Bags of dry dog food;
- Strong, durable toys such as Benebones or Kongs;
- Soft, chewy treats.
Beginning January 27th, there will be boxes in the main hallway to collect the donations. All of our students will be making no-sew fleece dog toys during our Pinney Has Heart event on February 13th and will also be making cards for the shelters to give to those who adopt dogs. Thank you so much for supporting this important cause!
Take Responsibility: Safety Drill
This afternoon we conducted one of our state mandated safety drills. The type of drill we practiced today was a “Lockdown protocol.” In this type of drill, students and staff lock the classroom doors, turn off the lights and get out of sight (in a real scenario the classroom door may be barricaded with items/furniture from the classroom). Teachers also have the option to evacuate their class depending on the situation. If a student is in the restroom or hallway they are instructed to get to the closest exit or classroom. This type of drill is called when there is a threat or hazard within the school building. When the drill was announced, teachers shut their locked classroom doors and classroom activities paused while students practiced quietly hiding out of sight. Once staff checked the building and determined that protocols were being followed, the drill concluded. We are happy to report that our staff and students did an outstanding job as always.
If you have any questions regarding this drill or any others, please let us know!

Raising Children Can Be Challenging
Would you like to reduce stress and feel assured that you are nurturing happy, confident kids?
The Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) offers parents and caregivers of children aged 0 to 12 new insights and an opportunity to connect with other parents. Community organizations across 13 counties in Ohio provide support for common parenting challenges and difficult behaviors. All sessions are free of charge.
Whether it’s your toddler's tantrums at the grocery store, bedtime struggles with your daughter, or your son’s defiance or aggression, we provide guidance on how to address these issues swiftly and calmly!
We won’t dictate how to raise your children. Instead, our community partners will share straightforward, practical strategies that you can modify to align with your family’s values, beliefs, and needs. We understand that happier families foster stronger relationships… and lead to successful children!
Yearbook Order Time!
Yearbook order forms will come home with your student today. Order now through January 31st. Yearbooks are $18 each and can also be ordered online using the button below. Don’t miss out on the memories!
Kindergarten Registration Opens Next Week
Do you know a kindergartner who might attend Pinney next school year? Please encourage your neighbors and friends to enroll their children as early as possible. As a reminder, we are moving to all-day, everyday kindergarten, and having accurate enrollment numbers will help us plan for the right number of classes.
Middle School Incoming 6th Grade Welcome Night for Eversole Run and Grizzell
Hello! We are excited to invite all parents of 5th-grade students who will be joining us next year to our Parent Welcome Night on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 6:00pm! This will be a wonderful opportunity for us to connect and for you to learn all about what to expect as your child transitions to middle school. We’ll share helpful information on a typical day for a 6th grader and highlight our academic offerings.
Parent Welcome Night is designed for parents and guardians. In August, students and their families will be invited to 6th Grade Orientation. During orientation, students will meet their teachers, tour the building, and receive all necessary information for the first few days of school.
We can’t wait to meet you and share in this exciting new chapter together!
