Hello, Whip-Pur Families!

Despite the poor weather conditions, our Walk-a-Thon was a huge success for our students and staff! Thank you to our amazing HSO team for their hard work to plan, organize, and shift to an indoor version of this event for HES. Students worked hard to walk laps in honor of the generous amount of donations given by the Hampshire community. The Walk-a-Thon fundraiser earned over $18,000!!! The top earners in each grade level were recognized, along with the top two earners from the entire school. These students will be able to 'Soak A Teacher' in the near future. Teacher that have volunteered to be 'soaked' include Mrs. Bannerman, Mrs. Bolander, Mrs. Daudelin, Mrs. Galyon, Mrs. Haugk, Miss Hirsch, Mrs. Kuzynowski, Mrs. Mertogul, Mr. Rahn, Mrs. Roberson, and Mrs. VandeVoord. Stay tuned for pictures once this portion of the event happens!

Great Work! Board

HES students are working hard and every week there is more and more work submitted to the WOW Whip-Pur Work Board! When outstanding work is submitted by a teacher, students hear their name on our morning announcements and then come down to the office for a certificate and pencil. Keep up the great work, Whip-Purs!

Awesome Attendance

Did you know we have 179 students that have not missed one single day of school yet? WOW! While 'perfect attendance' is a lofty and possibly unattainable goal as illness and unforeseen circumstances require us all to miss a day of school at times, we also want to celebrate our students that show up each day! Way to go, Whip-Purs!

Thank you for your efforts in ensuring that your child(ren) are present and arrive on time to school each day. It's never too early to teach that critical life skill to keep 'showing up' and giving your best, even on the days we wake up tired.

Our Attendance team has worked hard to create incentives and other strategies that help to decrease chronic absenteeism at HES. Please see updates from the Attendance Team below:

Monthly Data Recap

To date, the Chronic Absence rate at Hampshire Elementary School is 9%. This means that 9% of our students at HES have been absent for 10% or more of the school-year so far. This equates to 3.5 or more days. 92% of our students have less than 4 absences!

Monthly Pawsome Attendance Incentive

Students who came to school on time in September with 0-1 excused absences will be recognized with a Pawsome Attendance Certificate and a special fall-themed sticker to celebrate their achievement.

PAWS-itively PRESENT: Putting the Puzzle Together
Classes will continue to work together to 'build' great attendance—one puzzle piece at a time!

Weekly Goal: Classes that reach 92% or higher attendance each week will earn a puzzle piece.

End-of-Quarter Reward:

Classes that complete their puzzle will celebrate with a chance to spin the "Prize Wheel" for an exciting attendance prize!

October is Bullying Prevention Month

October is Bullying Prevention Month! HES will kick off bullying prevention month on Monday, 10/5. Throughout the month, students will learn about what bullying IS and what it's NOT, discuss the difference between bullying and conflict and participate in classroom and school-wide activities. All staff and students are asked to wear blue on Monday, 10/5 in solidarity against bullying. The color blue was chosen because in many cultures blue is a symbol of peace and confidence. Classrooms will participate in activities throughout the month to highlight, model, and equip our students to stand up against bullying.
