Principal's Weekly Update

Dear Wildcat Families,

We had a busy week with back to back games, assemblies and wrapping up the first grading period. The first progress report grades are now available in Aeries. Please log in and take a look at your child's progress. If you have questions about a grade, please reach out to their teacher(s) directly.

Helping Your Child Resolve Conflict

Middle school is a time of growth, and sometimes, growing pains. When conflicts arise, it's important to guide your child in handling them calmly and respectfully. Encourage them to listen, express their feelings clearly, and seek peaceful solutions. Your support in helping them practice empathy and communication skills can make a big difference.

National Walk & Roll to School Day – Wednesday, October 8th!

Encourage your students to lace up their shoes or hop on their bikes and join us for National Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 8th! This is a great opportunity to promote healthy habits, reduce traffic, and enjoy the outdoors.
Please remind students to wear appropriate safety gear and to follow all rules of the road to ensure a safe and fun journey to school.
We look forward to seeing many of our students participating in this exciting event!

BGW School Calendar

NED Visit!

Our 6th graders attended a NED's Resiliency Ride assembly, focused on the following guiding principles: Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best!

Attendance matters!

We held a month-long attendance campaign in September. Weekly, we recognized students with perfect attendance with raffles. By the end of the month, a quarter of our students had perfect attendance all month long! We are proud of them for being at school every day, learning.

Math Tutoring

BGW holds math tutoring sessions every week. See this month's schedule below:

Fall Sports

This past week, we hosted two sets of home games. In the first set against Grange, the volleyball team won both sets 25-17, and the football team put up a good fight but ultimately lost 21-31. In the second set of games against Green Valley, both teams suffered losses.

Only students from BGW and the opposing school will be allowed entry if unaccompanied by adults, and MUST have their school ID to enter. Gates open 15 minutes before game time.

BLACKLIGHT BASH DANCE DETAILS

Ticket cost: $10
Payment options: Venmo, CashApp, cash handed to PTO or put in envelope with student name + grade and dropped in PTO lock box in the main office
Final day to purchase tickets and turn in permission forms: Friday, October 10!
Online and in-person options for permission forms and payment:

In person—final October times when PTO is on campus:

Tuesday 10/7 after school
Friday 10/10 (LAST DAY) before and after school

Students are added to the approved guest list once the PTO has received both a permission form and payment and the office has cleared the student. We don’t use paper tickets, since those often get lost!
Students must bring their school ID to the dance or they will not be allowed to enter.

DANCE VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED!

We can’t run events like this without the support of people like you! We will need volunteers both the night before and the night of the dance. Please use the sign-up links below if you can lend a hand! THANK YOU!

Thursday, 10/16, from 6 - 8 PM: set-up and decorate
Friday, 10/17, from 6 - 9:30 PM: Snack Shack, photos, chaperoning, clean up, etc.
Can’t make it to volunteer but still want to support the event? We will be sending out a sign-up sheet for Snack Shack/concession donations—stay tuned!
