Harriet is a biopic about Harriet Tubman, the abolitionist who, after escaping enslavement, led 70 other slaves to freedom. • Hi Hixson families! Each year, we set a goal to organize and collect food to make 20 holiday meal baskets that go right back to a Hixson student and their family. This is a collaborative effort amongst our staff and families that reminds us to practice gratitude and lend a helping hand when able. If you are able/willing to donate an item, please see the link below. We ask that you have all donations dropped off at the office by November 18th. Thank you for supporting our Hixson community. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094fa9ab2aa7f49-hixson

  • The 28th Annual Webster Groves Holiday House Tour, sponsored by Hixson PTO, will take place on Sunday, December 8th from 11am to 4pm. This is the biggest fundraising event of the year and it takes many volunteers to make it successful! We have 6 beautiful homes and a holiday boutique that are opening their doors and we need LOTS of volunteers to work the event! The event time is 11am-4pm, and we have it split into 2 shifts. Please sign up using this link. If you have any questions about the event itself, please reach out to Teresa Herrell at tabrussel4975@yahoo.com or 314-607-0957. Thank you for your help and support!

Social Studies: Mr. Cahn

This week started off with a visit from our 7th grade counselor, Mr. Pelloquin who guided us through some mindfulness meditation and a discussion of resilience and empathy, which was a nice tie-in to the religions we previously studied. The rest of the week we started diving into the Abrahamic and monotheistic religions of Judaism and Christianity. We’ll wrap up this part of the unit with Islam next week.
