Wildcat Weekly- 9/7-9/11
Message from Mrs. LeMaster 🐾
Dear Pomerado Families,
We are so thankful for the cooler weather this week! We hope everyone enjoys the upcoming three-day weekend and has some time to relax, recharge, and enjoy time together.
As we approach our first 3 day weekend of the year, we want to remind families about the importance of regular school attendance. Every school day matters! Being at school consistently helps students stay connected to their teachers, keep up with learning, and feel successful and confident in the classroom. We appreciate your partnership in making school attendance a priority whenever possible.
Looking Ahead:
Monday: No School – Labor Day
Tuesday: Picture Day 📸
Wednesday: PAWs Meeting 5:30pm MPR-We hope to see you there!
Thursday: Annual District Bus Evacuation Drill 🚌
We hope you have a wonderful long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday!
With gratitude,
Lauren LeMaster
September is National Attendance Awareness Month
🐾 Be an Attendance H.E.R.O.! 🐾
At Pomerado, we’re challenging all our Wildcats to be an Attendance H.E.R.O. — Here. Every day. Ready. On-time!
Being at school every day helps students learn, grow, and stay connected with their teachers and friends. Even a few missed days can add up and make it harder to keep up with learning.
Families can help our Wildcats by:
- 🌙 Keeping a consistent bedtime and morning routine
- 📅 Planning appointments and vacations around the school calendar
- 💬 Talking with your child about the importance of coming to school
- ❤️ Reaching out to your child’s teacher or school if attendance becomes a challenge
We know that illness and unexpected events happen. When we work together, we can help our Wildcats be here, ready to learn, and on time! 🐾
Excused vs. Unexcused absences
We’d like to share some helpful clarification about excused vs. unexcused absences, make-up work, and chronic absenteeism. A parent/guardian reporting an absence does not automatically make it excused, as California law determines which reasons qualify.
Our attached letter provides important information about:
- What qualifies as an excused or unexcused absence
- Make-up work and grading
- How all absences—excused and unexcused—count toward chronic absenteeism
Thank you for partnering with us to support regular attendance and student success!
