Meet our Occupational Therapist - Brittany Thornton
Hello! My name is Brittany Thornton, and I am a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Hampton University, where I learned my interests in Occupational Therapy. I then pursued my Associates of Science degree from Kieser University in Tallahassee Florida. On my fieldwork rotation, I spent 2 months interning in an outpatient pediatric facility where I fell in love with the Pediatric population.
I have worked in schools and in outpatient, treating populations of ages 2-17 with various disorders such as Developmental Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD/ADD, Opposition Defiant Disorder, and Cerebral Palsy. I enjoy serving clients basing their goals and treatments through play & learning, art, games, and writing.
My husband and I live in Apex, NC with our son who is 4, and daughter who is 1. We have 2 dogs named Duchess and Flash! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and exploring nature parks and partaking in arts and crafts.

Kestrel Club Sessions Update
Hello Kestrel Families! Our administrative team has decided to change our club plan from the original two club sessions to one club session for the 2021-22 school year. Our club session will run from February 9th-March 16th.
The primary reason for this adjustment is scholar and staff safety. Scholars would be in clubs with students from other classes and grade levels, which could increase the risk of exposure. We will continue to monitor how COVID is impacting our school community and adjust as needed to create the safest possible environment for our scholars and staff.
We are committed to offering clubs during the school day so ALL scholars can participate and are looking forward to our winter club session! Thank you for your understanding and feel free to reach out to Mrs. Kennedy, Dr. Tracy, or Mr. Touchette with questions or concerns.

Middle School End of Year Trip: Washington DC
A new tradition is starting at KHS. Starting this year all MS scholars (6th-8th grade) are able to attend the end-of-year field trip. This year we are going to Washington DC from April 7-9, 2022.
If your scholar is interested in attending this year's trip to Washington DC, please join us for our virtual information night on September 21 at 6 pm (log-in information below).
We will go to a different location on a three-year rotation so that your scholar will not repeat the field trip. Next year we will be going to Jamestown/Williamsburg.
