Daniel Feeney Preschool Update
January 24, 2025
Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm! Please read below for important updates. As a reminder, with these cold temperatures and fun snow play mittens are far easier to put on little hands than gloves! Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.
Warm regards,
Julie
Vision Screenings on Monday and Tuesday
Our nurses will conducted vision screenings for all DFP students next Monday and Tuesday. If you want to opt your child OUT of this screening please email me: jmartin@walpole.k12.ma.us and Liz Martinez: emartinez@walpole.k12.ma.us.
Dear Parent and/or Guardian:
This letter is to inform you of the upcoming state mandated screenings that will be happening at the Daniel Feeney Preschool. While most children see their pediatricians annually, this program frequently identifies problems that arise between doctors’ visits.
State regulations require vision screening for all students enrolled in the preschool. Screenings are done at selected intervals throughout the school years. At DFP all students will have a vision screening completed once a year. Vision screenings will be completed 1/27/25 and 1/28/25.
If you would like to opt out of the screening, please let me know and provide a copy of your child's most recent physical with their vision recorded within the last calendar year. Please email me with any concerns or questions. Thank you!
Kindly,
Tina DiCicco
Elm School/DFP nurse
REPORT CARDS & PROGRESS REPORTS WILL BE ON ASPEN 2/7/25
Report cards are issued twice per school year, once in February and the second on the last day of school in June. For students who receive special eudcaiton services, progress rerports are issued with the same frequency. Both can be found in your child's Aspen portal. If you need login credentials, please email Julie Martin.
We are planning our THIRD annual DFP Carnival - 3/30/25
I have set a tentative date of Sunday, March 30 from 1-3 pm for our third annual DFP Carnival. This fun family event takes place at the preschool and Elm cafeteria and is complete with games, prizes, snakcs and more. If you are interested in planning this event, please contact Julie Martin. Thank you for your support!
We are no longer accepting peer applications for the 2025-2026 school year
Our peer application window has now closed. We will soon hold a lottery to select peers and families will be notified by 2/14/25. Please note, there will be a significant wait list.
Winter here and so is illness, please read the district policy
A Reminder about Winter Clothing
As the temperatures get colder, a reminder to please make sure all clothing is labeled: coats, hats, and mittens. It is best to dress your children in layers since the building can get very warm inside. Also be sure your children are wearing safe and functional footwear (sneakers, snow boots, rubber soled shoes). Please note: we will go outside unless it is a "real feel" of less than 20 degrees. There is very cold weather approaching, please dress your child accordingly.
We always welcome the following items, thank you:
- Paper towels
- Tissues
- Napkins
Please Take Note of this Information re: Kindergarten Registration
If you have a child going to Kindergarten, please send an updated health and physical form to your child's elementary school. Because your child attends DFP, he/she is a Walpole Public Schools student and you do not need to register him/her for K. You can send your child's updated physical directly to the elementary school.
