Hall Star Shine Weekly
News & Updates for the Hall Star Nation
As we move through the second half of the school year together, we are reminded that the most powerful force in any community is the way we show up for one another. At Hall, we believe that love is expressed through kindness, patience, empathy, and care....in classrooms, in hallways, and in every interaction that helps our students feel safe, seen, and valued.
When we choose compassion, offer support, and extend grace to one another, we strengthen not just our school, but the entire Hall Star community. Thank you for partnering with us in creating a space where our students can learn, grow, and thrive together. 💙✨
You Are Invited! Northside Sound & Soul
We are excited to invite our Hall Star families to join us for Northside Sound & Soul: A Day of Black Brilliance, Joy, and Community as we celebrate Black History Month together!
This year’s celebration will take place as an all-school harambee, a gathering rooted in the spirit of “all pulling together," where our students and staff will come together in music, storytelling, affirmation, and shared joy. The assembly will feature a live performance by Known MPLS and an inspiring message from guest speaker Steve Fitzhugh as we honor the growth and collective strength that lives within our Hall Star Nation.
To help us prepare for a safe and welcoming experience for all, please RSVP using the QR code on the flyer. We look forward to lifting together in celebration with you! ✨

We invite you to complete the following brief survey to share your family’s values and priorities as we begin planning for the 2026–2027 school year budget. With budget allocations being shared with schools on February 17 and decisions due by March 6 - and with another year of significant districtwide financial constraints anticipated - your perspective will help guide how we make thoughtful decisions about where and how to allocate limited resources at Hall.
Thank you for taking the time to share your input. We will communicate survey results and our school budget plans in the coming weeks. For more information about the district process, please visit the MPS 26–27 Budget Process website.
🎧 Beats, Moves & Hall Star Magic
Our Hall Stars recently had the opportunity to participate in a schoolwide dance residency with Young Dance, where students explored hip hop and creative movement as tools for expression, storytelling, and confidence-building.
Throughout the residency, students engaged in movement experiences that encouraged collaboration, creativity, and positive risk-taking...supporting both physical wellness and social-emotional growth.
We are grateful for community partnerships that help bring joyful, arts-integrated learning experiences to all Hall Star students! ✨
🧲 Powered by Curiosity: Magnet Learning in Action
In celebration of Magnet Schools Month, our Hall Star engineers have been hard at work in Makerspace exploring one of our magnet themes...energy! Students have been designing and building working circuits, testing motors, and discovering how energy moves through systems.
Even more exciting has been watching scholars collaborate throughout the engineering design process by sharing ideas, troubleshooting challenges, and celebrating their successes together. These hands-on experiences bring our STEM magnet focus to life while strengthening teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity.
We’re proud of the innovative thinking (and collaboration!) happening every day at Hall. ⚡✨

When Carter asked for a paper towel and a cup during Makerspace, we said yes…
And then watched her head straight into the bathroom 👀
Naturally, we were curious.
Our young scientist created her own dark space to test how light travels, reflects, and changes in different environments.
Turns out, sometimes innovation starts with a paper towel, a cup… and a big idea. ✨
