ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. We recognize that illnesses and events take place that necesitate absences, however, we do encourage every student to be in school every day he/she is able.

How to Help at Home How to Help at Home

This week’s How to Help at Home guide is full of simple ways to support learning and leadership beyond the classroom! In reading, students are learning to identify text structures, and families can help by looking for signal words and discussing how a story or informational text is organized. In math, we're focusing on number sense and place value. Practice by finding numbers in everyday life, comparing numbers, or challenging your child to create the largest and smallest numbers using different digits.

We're also encouraging families to spread kindness through a Family Kindness Scavenger Hunt and practice Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood by listening without interrupting and considering others' perspectives.

These small moments of learning, conversation, and kindness make a big difference. Check out this week's guide for fun, easy ways to help your Bulldog grow at home!

BES is excited to celebrate with our students with a school-wide book character costume parade on Thursday, October 29th at 8:15am

Guidelines and Reminders for Book Character Costumes:

  • Students are encouraged to wear appropriate costumes to school this day that reflect book characters because "We're Hooked on Books, Not Drugs". Make sure the costume is appropriate for school (nothing that promotes substance use or illegal activities or is derogatory, gory, disrespectful, or depicts violence).
  • Full face masks or face paint and weapons (chucks/sickles, swords/knives/guns, etc) are not permitted.
  • Costumes cannot be violent or suggestive and cannot have accessories or accessories that could be used as a weapon or appear to be a weapon.
  • Costumes should not interfere with learning. This means that masks that cover the entire face, costumes that restrict movement or vision, prevent sitting or standing, or prevent participation in recess or physical education are not permitted.
  • All students will be able to participate in a school-wide costume parade and will have the opportunity to change out of the costume if necessary during the remainder of the school day. ***Please send a change of clothing with your child if their costume will present distractions during the school day.
  • Students or parents who have questions about the acceptability of their costume should consult with their teacher before wearing the costume to school.
  • Students wearing inappropriate costumes will not participate in the parade and will call home for a change of clothing.
  • Students may not use the school bathrooms to prepare before the parade. They need to come to school in costumes. Face paint, makeup, and hair dye spray are not to be brought to school and will not be permitted.

Bulldog Olympics Bulldog Olympics

Our students had a blast at Friday's Bulldog Olympics - our PTOs only fundraiser of the year. There is still time to donate - we're almost halfway to our goal! Every dollar raised goes right back to the Bertram PTO and our students and teachers.
