Child Development Associate Certification Update
This is an important update for graduating high school seniors who are pursuing their CDA® credential. The Council for Professional Recognition recognizes that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many high school seniors will not have the opportunity to complete all the requirements needed to earn their CDA® credential. We deeply care for the students who are faced with this situation and understand that this is a stressful time. With this in mind, the Council for Professional Recognition has made a one-time accommodation for graduating high school students. You will find full details of the accommodation here.
The Council is here to support your students’ efforts as they continue the process toward earning their CDA® Credential.
Certification Update for CNA
Endorsements
- If more than one endorsement is listed for a Program of Study, you can choose which endorsement
- Example: if a student does not meet the core requirements for a STEM endorsement, and Business and Industry is listed as an option, then the student could get the Business and Industry Endorsement
- Existing endorsement rules in effect, but this will be an additional avenue; another bullet within the endorsement wording
- See POS and Endorsement Crosswalk linked above

ACCOUNTABILITY
- Accountability will be a "no rating" across the board
- CCMR will be a report only for accountability, still determining how it will impact subsequent years because it is a lagging indicator
- Please see this document for FAQ and information regarding accountability: https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/200402_accountability_guidance_final.pdf

CTE Weighted Funding
CTE weighted funding will not be impacted due to distance learning or the inability for students to complete the work-based learning component of Practicum or Career Preparation courses.
- Career Preparation may include a paid or unpaid work-based learning experience.
- If students in Career Preparation have lost their job or if students in a Practicum course lost their internship placement due to COVID-19, then an alternative assignment may replace the time missed at the training site.

Deadline Information
CLNA Deadline - Now June 1st
Perkins Reserve Grant - April 27th (extension from April 20th)
Deadline and Due Date Automatic Extensions
All department deadlines and due dates will automatically be adjusted as described below. Please note that further extensions may be issued as circumstances continue to evolve.
- Any deadline between now through April 10, 2020, is extended to April 20, 2020.
- Any deadline April 20 through May 3, 2020, is extended two additional weeks.
A universal erratum announcing these changes for all grant application timelines and due dates will be issued and posted on the TEA Grant Opportunities web page, rather than issuing individual grant errata.
Grant Application Submission Changes
Effective immediately TEA will accept all grant application documents, including competitive grant applications, by e-mail.
A universal grant erratum will be issued to remove delivery service, postal mail, and hand-delivery options and require application submission by e-mail only. This is a new process for competitive grant applications and TEA Grants staff will issue individual grant errata for competitive grants to indicate the appropriate e-mail address to be used.
Questions Related to COVID-19 Regarding Federal and State Grants
Please send questions regarding your federal and state grants to disasterinfo@tea.texas.gov. During this time, all questions related to the coronavirus are being tracked and responded to through FAQ documents on the agency’s Coronavirus web site.
If you send your grant questions to department staff, they will not be able to respond and will forward your question to the email address above. Responses to grant related questions will be found first in the FAQ documents on the agency COVID-19 website, then later the department grants website.

eDynamic Learning
eDynamic Learning has made the following decisions to help schools for both the short-term and long-term as they deal with the progression of COVID-19:
1) eDL will now provide Texas districts with immediate access to 2020-21 course licenses and Career Ready Programs. This means that schools interested in eDL course implementations for 2020-21 can begin using their licenses and services now, at no additional cost. We are happy to turn licenses on now and can begin providing support services immediately to get them up and running.
2) Billing for all 2020-21 licenses and services purchased now will occur when schools are able to pay. Payment options may extend into 2020-21 if needed and will be based on what they tell us about their needs. No questions asked.
Please contact Rob McNeely at rob.mcneely@edynamiclearning.com for more information.
