Dear Students and Families,

As we wrap up the first quarter of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and the great start we’ve had together. The first quarter has been filled with learning, growth, and some really fun moments that we look forward to building on in the months ahead.

We also had an amazing Homecoming Week! From the Tiger Buddy Hunt and school spirit to the parade, assembly, and football game, it was a great reminder of what makes Mountain Home High School such a special place. Our students, staff, and community came together to celebrate the pride we have in being "One Town, One Team", and I am grateful to everyone who helped make the week such a memorable experience.

Please be sure to look through the newsletter for important dates and events coming up over the next two months. There’s a lot to look forward to as we continue building on the success of the first quarter. Thank you again for all that you do to support our students and our school. I’m grateful for your involvement and encouragement, and I look forward to a wonderful second quarter ahead!

Go Tigers!

The highest performers on the PSAT are eligible to earn scholarships like the National Merit Scholarship when taken during students’ junior year. As sophomores, this is an introduction to the SAT (typically taken during students’ junior year) to get an idea of what the SAT is like and to learn which subject areas they could benefit from more practice with before taking the SAT.

The PSAT is an optional test. Students are NOT automatically registered. They must sign up by filling out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/5fBHTRN7BrnWas5f7

The deadline to sign up for the PSAT is Friday September 18th

PSAT information:

  • Date: Tuesday October 20th.

  • Time: 7:50am - 11:00am (approximately)

  • Location: MHHS Main Gym

  • Cost:

    • FREE for Sophomores

    • $20 for Juniors (must be paid for at the front office at the high school)

      • Please bring your receipt to Mrs. Sanchez in the counseling office.

      • If payment is not received by Monday 10/19 at 3pm, you cannot take the test.

  • Students who sign up for the PSAT exam will be excused from their classes that morning, but are responsible for making up any work they miss.

Veteran's Day Luncheon and Assembly Veteran's Day Luncheon and Assembly

Mountain Home High School is proud to continue our tradition of honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. We invite you to join us in recognizing our local veterans during this year’s Veterans Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, in the Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Event Schedule:

  • Veterans Lunch: 11:45 AM – 12:30 PM

  • Veterans Day Assembly: 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM

The event will feature Lieutenant Colonel Ryan D. Smith, the 726th Air Control Squadron Commander, as our guest speaker. We will also enjoy special performances by the MHHS Choir and band. Lunch will be provided by Goodwood BBQ, with dessert prepared by our MHHS Culinary Arts students.

This annual event is an important opportunity for our students and community to express gratitude to those who have dedicated their lives to service. We encourage all veterans and their families to attend, and allow us to celebrate them for their commitment and sacrifice.

We look forward to seeing you on November 11 as we honor our heroes together.

Petitioning for Credit Due to Excessive Absences Petitioning for Credit Due to Excessive Absences

Parents/Guardians: your student may receive notification if they will be required to petition for credit the week of November 30th-December 4th, due to excessive absences. No matter the reason – PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY WRITE A LETTER OF PETITION and turn it into the office BY FRIDAY, DEC. 11th. You can expect a decision before the end of the semester. Parents/Guardians, you will receive notification through email - if you do not have an email, a letter will be mailed home.

Here is an explanation of the possible outcomes:

  • Credits Denied – This would be based upon the reason for the student’s absences. If verification is not received through a letter, denial is automatic. Parents/Guardians would likely be required to meet with an official at the district office for further consideration.

  • Credits Granted – Credits are granted based upon the legitimate reasons for absences.

  • Credits Pending – Students credits are “on hold” until April. In order to receive the pending credits, the student must stay below 9 absences, second semester.

*If you have questions, please give us a call at 587-2570.

As we move into some of the more questionable weather, We want to make sure everyone knows where/how to access school delay/cancellation info. School delay/cancellation announcements will generally be made before or by 6:00 AM of the actual school day. This is done after school officials and other personnel have checked road conditions. Typically, these messages are shared via district Blackboard messages (like this one), phone/text messages, district email, the MHSD Facebook page, as well as various TV and radio news sources.

Rank One provides families with a convenient, all-in-one location to:

  • Upload and manage athletic physicals
  • Complete required athletic paperwork
  • Access team schedules
  • Receive important athletic information and updates

We encourage all student-athletes and families to create their accounts and become familiar with the new system before the start of the upcoming athletic season.

Additional directions and setup information are available through the Rank One registration materials. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the MHHS Athletic Department.

We look forward to making athletic registration and communication easier and more efficient for our students and families through Rank One.

MountainHomeBOLD MountainHomeBOLD

User uploaded image

The BroncoBOLD High School Ambassador Program supports motivated high school students to become active leaders and advocates for mental health on their campus and in their community. The BroncoBOLD program facilitates the formation and launch of our own student-led mental health initiative called MountainHomeBOLD.

As part of the program, MountainHomeBOLD will partner with coaches to designate one competition/game as a BOLD Mental Health Awareness Game. These games spotlight mental health awareness through visible symbols such as green ribbon patches, decals, cheer bows, and resource activities, which aim to engage students and fans. This shared approach helps unify the message across high schools and the university, creating one strong, student- and community-centered movement.

With this, our school's BOLD game nights are listed below. We will have packets to give to the coaches that contain coaches' mental health matters patches, green ribbon athlete uniform patches, and green ribbon helmet sticker decals (football only). There are instructions on the packet for how to stick the patches on and where they need to go. These games are a mandatory portion of the BroncoBOLD program, so we have to do this and really need your help making sure the patches are on the jerseys for the game. I will use the rosters Sarah DeVore has sent out to make sure you have enough ribbons. If there are any changes to those, please let me know ASAP. Please let me know if you'd like me to leave these packets in your box in the teacher's lounge or if you want me to keep them in my office until closer to your game night.

Fall Sports BOLD Game Nights TBA:

At the games, we will have a MountainHomeBOLD table set up with resources, some activities, etc., relating to mental health. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

YOU ARE MORE means unifying as a school community to protect the overall mental health of you and every individual in our schools. Unfortunately there may be times where you feel alone fighting an internal battle that others do not see. You are not alone! Do not attempt to crawl out of the darkness by yourself or rely on simple willpower. Instead, seek out others to help find the strength needed to overcome struggles. Because when it comes down to it, YOU ARE MORE important than you realize!

Tardy Policy Information Tardy Policy Information

Per school policy, each student is allowed seven (7) tardies per quarter. After the seventh tardy, each additional tardy will result in a lunch detention. We feel that allowing seven tardies per quarter is very generous, and because of this flexibility, we do not excuse tardies. We appreciate your support in helping your student arrive to class on time and ready to learn.
