Our new parent communication system
Oak Harbor Public Schools and Crescent Harbor Elementary will use ParentSquare to communicate with you from your child's school, classrooms, and groups. ParentSquare provides a simple and safe way for everyone at school to connect.
Families should have received an invitation last week to join ParentSquare. This invitation went to the email address or phone number you provided at the time of registration. Please click on the link in that message to activate your account.
If you did not receive an invitation you can still sign up at ParentSquare.com Simply enter your email or phone number inside the Register square and then select Get Started.
Once you've signed up for ParentSquare, don't forget to download the ParentSquare Mobile App to send and receive school communications on the go! Download for iOS or Download for Android
With ParentSquare you'll be able to:
- Receive all school and classroom communications via email, text, or app. It's your choice!
- Communicate in your preferred home language with automatic translation
- Directly message teachers and staff
- Have access to your school's documents and pictures/videos that come in your ParentSquare message
Bus transportation
Regular transportation is provided for students outside the one-mile walking area of the CHE attendance area. Please fill out the Transportation Request Form to request student transportation or to request a change to your current arrangement. If you submitted a form over the summer, you will be notified Via ParentSquare. Transportation requests must be resubmitted each school year.
For any questions, please get in touch with the OHPS transportation team at 279.5570.
School Lunch
New legislation will provide state funding for free meals to elementary schools with 40 percent or more enrolled children eligible for free or reduced-priced meals. Because 62% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch at CHE, students are eligible for one breakfast and one lunch daily at no cost, regardless of household income.
It is still very important for families to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application so that our school will continue to qualify for this opportunity along with other resources designed to help students thrive in school. Such services include enhanced staffing levels, increased academic support, scholarships, and more.

School Supplies
For some families, back-to-school shopping for supplies is a cherished ritual, and for other families, it is challenging to afford supplies that you want to help your student start the school year. CHE is committed to providing supplies to make sure all students receive a quality education, thanks to the generosity of our community through local levies.
Supplies that we supply for every student include chromebook, pencils and pens, colored pencils or crayons, notebooks, and folders. We ask families to provide a backpack, over-the-head headphones, and a water bottle. If your student needs supplies that you cannot afford, including a backpack, please contact the school office so that we can help you out.
Join the CHE PTA
The Crescent Harbor Elementary PTA is a vibrant organization committed to supporting student learning and fostering communication with families. Fundraising supports enrichment learning opportunities and supplies for students. Social events provide fun events for students and families. Meetings and newsletters help inform families about events at school.
Consider getting involved with the PTA by volunteering to pitch in and by becoming a member for the new school year. Get more information at the CHE PTA Website.
Important medication Reminders
All health plans and healthcare provider orders are good for one school year only. If your child needs a health plan or needs to take medication during the school day for the school year 2023-2024 (this includes any prescription, over-the-counter medications, or inhalers used at school, or after-school activities), please download the Parent Information and School Medication Form from the district website. The district's Health & Wellness page also has information regarding inhalers and Epi-Pens at school. Forms may also be picked up in our office. Our nurse's office opens on Aug. 21 or you may call or leave a message at 279.5650
