Academy Avenue Elementary School

June is here and the weeks now turn into days! We are so excited to reach the final month of the 23-24 school year...but it's not over yet. Here are just a few things on the horizon:

• K Screening is on Monday and Tuesday this week. We are excited to see our incoming K students.
• Field Day is this Wednesday, June 5th. Thanks for all of the volunteers. Mr. Murphy will be reaching out. If you missed the email and google form, click here to sign up.
• Summer weather wear-remember to apply sunblock before school, pack hats and sneakers, as well as refillable water bottles for getting outside. We've had several classrooms already use the outdoor classroom and tables. Small sitting towels are also a good option.
• Seniors are coming home this Thursday! We cannot wait to see our alums return!!! It is amazing to see these youngsters leave us and then come back as young men and women and hear what they are doing after graduating high school.
• Chapman visit is this Thursday. 5th graders need to be on time and ready for the walkover to Chapman on June 6th. They will be taking the tour and seeing their new school.
• Track and Field Meet-we still have time for 4th and 5th graders to sign up and represent Academy. Click here for the sign up sheet. Students can still show up and compete on June 12, 430PM at WHS!
• Grade 5 Promotion Ceremony is coming quickly. We are excited for the 14th and seeing our 5th graders get the special recognition they deserve. The 5th grade fun day will be directly after school on Tuesday, June 11th (which is a half day of school for all students K-4 due to staff professional development).
• NE Wildlife Fundraiser, designed and operated by our 5th graders, raised more than double their goal with $767!!! Great job to the 5th graders who coordinated this amazing support project.
• School store has been a hit, which has been this week's feature picture! These amazing kids have learned the ropes of running a business and the kids across the building seem to love it!

Parent Council Elections are in just a few days! We are still looking for nominations for President. This position is required for AAPC to function. Without the President and Treasurer positions filled we won't be able to have we won't be able to have events like the ice cream social, transportation fees for field trips won't be covered, and recess equipment won't be refreshed.

Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday and elections will be held Wednesday through June 5th. Please consider running by yourself or with a partner! Don't want to run alone but don't have a partner in mind? We can match you with someone if interested.
