Press Pause, Power Down: New Cell Phone Guidelines for Students

Dublin City Schools is launching Press Pause, Power Down, a new campaign to support student focus and well-being by limiting distractions during the school day.

In alignment with a new Ohio law, students in all grade levels are prohibited from using personal communication devices during instructional hours, from the first bell to the last. Devices must be powered off or in airplane mode and stored out of sight.

We recognize this is a shift, especially for older students who previously had access during lunch or class transitions. However, this change is about protecting learning time and reducing distractions, stress, and unhealthy digital habits.

Students may only use their phones when directed by a teacher for educational purposes. In a true emergency, students will be permitted to contact families.

If you need to reach your child, please call the school office. Parents of Davis students may also email their child’s school account.

Thank you for partnering with us to help students stay present and focused.

Spring 2026 8th Grade Washington, DC Trip

Incoming 8th Grade Families,

This is just a reminder that it is time to register your student with Prodigy Travel if they will be joining the Washington, DC trip next May. It is a year away, but we like to give our families plenty of time to plan for the expense of the trip. We have urged students who are interested to work to help with the cost of the trip...it may help them appreciate it that much more! Mowing, mulching or pulling weeds in the summer, raking leaves in the fall, and shoveling snow in the winter in the neighborhood are all good ways to get started.

Here is the link to all of the DC information including the Prodigy website to create an account, register for the trip, and make payments.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ms. Wilhelm, 8th grade team lead and DC advisor.

Don't Forget about Summer Reading!

Dublin City Schools believes that reading is a key to success in all areas. While middle and high school students have required reading, all students are encouraged to read all summer long.

6th Grade Orientation

6th Grade Orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 12 from 6-8 PM.

From 6-6:25 pm check in to get student name tag and schedule, visit tables in the commons, and explore the building.

By 6:25 pm, students should report to their 3rd period classroom, parents/guardians/adults report to the gymnasium.

From 6:30-7:15 pm, students will be with their teachers and adults will be with the admins, counselors, team leads.

At 7:15 pm we will have a staggered dismissal for students and adults to find each other.

Following this, there is time for families to visit the PTO/school supplies table, fill out forms if needed, and explore the building.

During orientation, students will tour and learn important aspects of the building. There will be time for them to walk their schedule. The schedule walkthrough on Wednesday, August 13 is not mandatory, but is another time that students can come walk their schedule if they would like to feel more comfortable on the first day of school.

For those families that are new to Davis, you will see that parking is limited for large events at Davis. You can use any of our parking lots, or you can park at Olde Sawmill Elementary and use the paths to walk to Davis. You can also use on street parking. All students and adults should plan to enter through the main entrance at Door #2.

If you or your student are not able to attend orientation or walkthrough, please try not to worry. They will learn all of the information shared during the first days of school. They will have tons of help finding their classrooms. We will take great care of them! đź’š

Infinite Campus -- Annual Update

ACTION REQUIRED! Time for Annual Updates!

Last week, families should have received an email with instructions to complete the 2025–2026 Annual Update in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. This required process allows parents and guardians to confirm or update important information—including home address, phone numbers, emergency contacts—and to acknowledge district handbooks, student code of conduct, and technology use agreements for the upcoming school year.

Please note: This year, families must complete the Annual Update in order to access key information in the Parent Portal, such as grades, fees, and assessment data.

Helpful Reminders:

  • For best results, complete the Annual Update using a computer or tablet.

  • Address changes require two proofs of residency. A list of accepted documents is available on our Enrollment Required Documentation page.

STEPS
To access the Annual Update, please follow steps 1-7 below.

  1. Log-in to Infinite Campus Parent Portal

  2. Click “More” in the Main Menu or “Annual Update” under district announcements

Breakfast/Lunch Information

Part of the back to school routine is making sure that your student has a current Pay Schools account for breakfast and lunch. You can also fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Application for your students. Apply online through PaySchools Central or use one of our printable forms (translated in multiple languages) to submit your information.

Meal Prices Add Up! Apply Now for Free/Reduced School Meals

Check a back-to-school box off your list by going ahead and filling out the Free and Reduced Meal Application for your students. Easily apply online through PaySchools Central.

Why apply?

  • It can lower or waive technology fees.

  • It connects families to additional resources and support.

  • It ensures your student gets a healthy meal at school every day.

  • It helps reduce or prevent meal account debt, which carries over from year to year.

Note: Students with negative meal account balances will receive a standard school meal, but they won’t be able to purchase extra (“a la carte”) items.

The Food Services team works closely with school principals to notify families and help manage account balances. Once a student’s meal charges reach $25 or more, you’ll receive automated phone calls as a reminder to add funds. Applying for Free & Reduced Meals is the best way to avoid accumulating a growing balance.

This year, several times a quarter, we will have the opportunity to have a support dog at Davis. Onyx is owned by counselor, Shanley O'Neil. Onyx is trained and very well behaved. He loves to receive lots of pets and has a knack of helping to calm and soothe when folks are feeling a bit anxious or upset. We are excited to have this opportunity for some of our students at Davis!

When we have a support dog in the building, he will always be on leash and with his handler when not in the main office area.

If you have any questions about the support dog at DMS, please reach out to Jaime (stewart_jaime@dublinschools.net) or Shanley (oneil_shanley@dublinschools.net). If you would like to give your student permission to visit with Onyx when when he is at school, please complete the questions below. You only need to fill this out if you would like your student to have this opportunity. If you do not want your student to interact with Onyx, please do not fill out the form below and we will know not to allow him to interact with your student in the office area. Thank you!
