Hello FamiLEE,

We have made it to the end of the third month of the school year. I am excited that it has been a successful school year. I encourage all parents with junior students to question your child about his/her scores on the practice ACT. We are working hard to prepare for our ACT test in April.

Please send excuse notes to LHS.Attendance@hsv-k12.org. We are working hard to meet our goal of a 95% attendance rate. Please help us with this effort. We need to her back up to 95%.

Our magnet window is open. If you know someone interested in applying, please send them the information in this newsletter. We want to grow our FamiLEE!!!

It is IMPACT AID time. Please follow the steps below to complete the Impact Aid Form.

PICTURE DAY is October 31, 2024. Please be prepared to complete your yearbook picture.

Below is our current attendance rate. We have a goal of 95% this year. Please help us reach this goal by ensuring your child is here every day. If you child has to be out, please send excuses. The NEW attendance email address is LHS.attendance@hsv-k12.org.

There will be a Lee High Baseball BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, November 2 from 11:00-3:00 at Chapman Pool (2015 Pettus Dr. NE) There will be pulled pork plates, which will include baked beans, chips, a roll, & a drink. The cost is $10.00 and all proceeds will go to the Lee High Baseball program. Pre-sale orders to shelby.hunter@hsv-k12.org would be preferred, but walkups will not be turned away.

Huntsville City Schools is asking eligible families to complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey Form electronically starting October 17, 2024, through October 31, 2024. Spanish Versions of the form are available at each school. Impact Aid provides school districts with additional federal dollars to help support resources in classrooms.

Who is Eligible to Complete the Impact Aid Form?

• Parents/Guardians who work/live on Redstone Arsenal or other federal properties.
• Parents/Guardians on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
• Parents/Guardians who live in federal/public housing communities.

How to Complete Impact Aid Form Electronically?

• Login to the Parent Portal in the PowerSchool app or through the PowerSchool website
• (https://huntsvillecs.powerschool.com/public/).
• Click on Forms, then click on Huntsville City Impact Aid.
• A form should be completed for each student attending Huntsville City Schools.
• Spanish version of the form is available at each school.

How to set up an Account in PowerSchool?

Parent/Guardian can create an account by following these steps:

Go to https://huntsvillecs.powerschool.com/public/ to get to the "Student and Parent Sign In" page:

1. Click the Create Account Tab.

2. Click Create Account.

3. Enter your first name, last name, and email address.

4. Enter the student's name, access ID, and access password, and the parent’s relationship to the student (access ID and access

password is provided by the school).

5. Click Enter.

6. Once the account is created, follow the above directions on how to complete Impact Aid Form electronically.

Need to Request a Spanish Version of the Impact Aid Form?

If a parent/guardian needs a Spanish version, copies are available at each school.

Deadline to Complete Impact Aid Form?

Impact Aid Forms are due by Thursday, October 31, 2024

• Congratulations to Mr. Torey Rice for winning Outstanding Choral Student for Tenor/Bass for all of Huntsville City Schools at Tuesday's All-City Choir Festival! He is such a hardworking young man with a true passion for music!
• Shout-out to Londan Harris, Queen Houston, Armani Shager, and Imani Taylor for their leadership on the Girls Flag Football Team!

• Our JROTC Drill Team competed in the Sparkman Drill Competition this past weekend. Our kids placed in the following drill events:

  1st place in JROTC Knowledge Bowl

  1st place in Unarmed Color Guard

  3rd place in Unarmed Regulation

  3rd place in Armed Inspection

  3rd place in Armed Regulation

  3rd place in Armed Color Guard

  Cadet 1SG Carlton Schantz won 1st place in the Drill Knockout Tournament. The Army Physical Fitness team took 5th place. Lee/NCT HS took 2nd place overall.
